Song of Assembly1

You Are the Lord SmithWorthy we stand saved by His hand.Great is Your name in all the earth.Worthy alone Christ on the throne,

Your kingdom will reign forever.You are the Lord Most High!

Welcome and Preparation for WorshipEvery Christian should be both conservative and radical; conservative in preserving the faith and radical in applying it.

We should not ask, ‘What is wrong with the world?’ for that diagnosis has already been given. Rather, we should ask,‘Where is the salt and light? Where is the Church? Why are the salt and light of Jesus Christ not permeating and changingour society?’ ~ John Stott

You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world. ~ The Lord Jesus, speaking to his disciples

The Lord Gives Us His PresenceResponsive Call to Worship2 Revelation 11:17; Psalm 145:10Pastor: We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, for you have taken your great power and begun to reign!

People: All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, and all your saints shall bless you!

Prayer of Adoration & Praise

1 All songs used by permission or covered under CCLI license # 391165.2 We believe that God always initiates with sinners, so we begin worship with his invitation and command to us to gather in His name.

Hymn of Praise

Christ Shall Have Dominion SullivanChrist shall have dominion over land and sea,Earth’s remotest regions shall his empire be;

They that wilds inhabit shall their worship bring,Kings shall render tribute, nations serve our King.

Christ shall have dominion over land and sea,Earth's remotest regions shall his empire be.

When the needy seek him, he will mercy show;Yea, the weak and helpless shall his pity know;

He will surely have them from oppression’s might,For their lives are precious in his holy sight.

Ever and forever shall his name endure,Long as suns continue it shall stand secure;And in him forever all men shall be blest,

And all nations hail him King of kings confessed.

Gospel Meditation: Why did the Son of Man come? Luke 19:1-10He entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and wasrich. And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small of stature.So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way. And when Jesuscame to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.”So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all grumbled, “He has gone in to bethe guest of a man who is a sinner.” And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I giveto the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation hascome to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

The Lord Gives Us His GraceWhere Is Your Joy? Psalm 51:12Restore to me the joy of your salvation...

We Confess our SinsOur Father, in your rich mercy you raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly places. You havegraciously adopted us into your family as sons and heirs, yet we have rebelled against you by selfishly demandingour own way. We have been disobedient children, and have sinned against you every day in our thoughts, words,and deeds. Gracious God, be merciful to us! Have compassion on us, we pray, for the sake of your dear Son, ourSavior Jesus Christ. And grant to us each day the grace of your Holy Spirit that we would, more and more, die untosin and live unto righteousness. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. ...Silent & Personalized Confession of Sin... Amen!

“Blessings, Blessings, Blessings…”Psalm 67

We Respond

Jesus Shall Reign WattsJesus shall reign where’er the sunDoes His successive journeys run;

His kingdom stretch from shore to shore,Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

Blessings abound where’er he reigns;The pris’ner leaps to lose his chains,

The weary find eternal rest,And all the sons of want are blest.

The Lord Gives Us His SacramentThe Sacrament of the Lord’s SupperCommunion, also called The Lord’s Supper or Eucharist, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committedfollowers of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims thegospel, who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live in a deeper communion with Jesus.If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer.We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the Church.

Great Is Thy Faithfulness ChisholmGreat is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,

There is no shadow of turning with Thee;Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,

As Thou hast been Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided,Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

3 4, 5, & 6 year-old children may be dismissed before the sermon to Godly Play in room 173.4

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

The Lord Gives Us His BlessingBenediction4 “The Richard C. Halverson Benediction”Wherever you go, God is sending you, wherever you are, God has put you there; He has a purpose in your being there.Christ who indwells you has something He wants to do through you where you are. Believe this and go in His grace andlove and power.

Blessed be the Lord God Almighty FittsBlessed be the Lord God Almighty,Who was, and is, and is to come.

Blessed be the Lord God Almighty,Who reigns forevermore.

4 Just as God called us into His presence at the beginning, so now He commands His blessing upon us as we depart. We look up and extend our handsin a posture of thanksgiving as we receive this great gift. Our final response to God’s assurance of His peace and presence upon those who are in Christis a chorus of joyful song.

“Blessings, Blessings, Blessings…”Psalm 67

Rev. Jim Hatch

1. We are incredibly loved by God—freely, forever, all of grace!“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us…God shall bless us”(v. 1, 7).

Do I really believe that? What difference will that make in my life?

2. God loves us but it is not about us; He is reaching the nations with his love beginning next door!“...that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the peoples praiseyou, O God; let all the peoples praise you!…God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!”(v. 2, 3)

Do I really believe that? What difference will that make in my life?

Iron Men Bible Study:Men, come join us on Tuesday mornings at6:30 am as we revel in the goodness of thegospel, as it’s celebrated in the book of Gala-tians. We finish promptly at 7:30 am. Invite afriend!

Iron Men moment:“The word ‘gospel’ simply means ‘goodnews’ and was used in Bible times of momen-tous announcements like great victories inbattle. God’s gospel is progressively revealedthroughout the Bible as God’s momentousannouncement to the world about his Son. Itconcerns his identity (who he is) as our Lord,and his achievement (what he’s done) as ourSavior.... When we understand what this real-ly means, our whole lives change.” ~ Richard Coekin

“A Long Obedience in the Same Direction”A study of Eugene Peterson’s book looking at the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). These are the particular songs thatthe Hebrew pilgrims would sing on their way up to worship in Jerusalem, and they have much to teach us about worship,service, joy, work, happiness, humility, community and blessing. Room 158a, (right off the sanctuary).

“The Righteous Shall Live By Faith”A study of R. C. Sproul’s book looking at the book of Romans. The book of Romans has been called “Paul’s fullest,grandest, most comprehensive statement of the gospel,” and it’s just as vital for the church today as on the day it waswritten. Room 167a, (down the hall from the church office).

Sedona Class for Young AdultsThe Young Adult Class is studying the book of John, using an excellent study guide (very understandable and applicable)by Frank Barker. The book of John was “written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and thatby believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). Room 168a — the “waterfall room,” off the back hallway, whichcan be accessed from the hallway across from the church office.
