Song of Assembly1

My Faith Has Found a Resting Place EdmundsMy faith has found a resting place from guilt my soul is freed

I trust the Everliving One, His wounds for me shall plead.

I need no other argument I need no other plea,It is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me.

Enough, for me that Jesus saves, this ends my fear and doubt,A sinful soul I come to Him, He'll never cast me out.

My heart is leaning on the Word, the written Word of God,Salvation by my Savior’s name, salvation through His blood.

My great Physician heals the sick, the lost He came to save; For me His precious blood he shed, for me His life he gave.

Welcome and Preparation for WorshipLike an eagle that stirs up its nest, that flutters over its young, spreading out its wings, catching them, bearing them on itspinions, the Lord alone guided him. ~ Deuteronomy 32:11,12a

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings. ~ Psalm 17:8

How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. ~ Psalm 36:7

He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. ~ Psalm 91:4

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem... How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under herwings, and you would not! ~ Jesus of Nazareth, Matthew 23:37

The Lord Calls Us to Worship HimCall to Worship2 Psalm 84:1-4How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and fleshsing for joy to the living God. Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay heryoung, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing yourpraise!

Prayer of Adoration & Praise

Hymn of Praise

Psalm 84O Lord of hosts, how lovely is your dwelling place!

I cry aloud, I long for your abode; The joys of earth have left my soul unsatisfied:

My heart and flesh desire the living God.Within your walls the sparrow finds a nesting place,

That near your altars she may have her young:How happy those who dwell within your house, O Lord,

By whom your holy praises are forever sung!

How happy those who have in you the strength they need,And in whose heart are Zion’s pathways found!

The desert sands they make a place of water-springs,Till autumn rains refresh the barren ground.

From strength to strength they journey on their pilgrimage,Until in God's own presence they appear:

O Lord of hosts, do good to your anointed one;Receive my earnest prayer: O God of Jacob, hear!

How better, far, a single day within your courts,Than thousands spent in any other way;

I'd rather wait upon the steps beside your door,Than pitch my tent where wickedness holds sway.For like a shield the Lord defends and covers us;

He gives us grace and crowns with glory too,And nothing good withholds from those that walk aright:

O Lord of hosts, how happy all who trust in you!

2 We believe that God always initiates with sinners, so we begin worship with his invitation and command to us to gather in His name.2

Page 4: DPC Bulletin - August 21, 2011

We Confess our Faith Psalm 84:5-12Pastor: Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion!

People: As they go through the Valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools.

Pastor: They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.

People: O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob!

Pastor: Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed!

People: For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house ofmy God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Pastor: For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor! No good thing does he withhold from those whowalk uprightly!

People: O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!

Your Love, Oh Lord PowellYour love, Oh Lord, reaches to the heavens,

Your faithfulness stretches to the skies.Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains;

Your justice flows like the ocean's tide.

And I will lift my voice to worship You my King,And I will find my strength in the shadows of Your wings.

The Lord Graciously Renews Us in ChristCall to Repentance 2 Corinthians 5:10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has donein the body, whether good or evil.

Corporate Confession of SinO Almighty God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his gloriousresurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live withhim in the joy of his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever... Silent & Personalized Confession of Sin... Amen!

The Good News 2 Corinthians 5:21a... John 19:30... 2 Corinthians 5:21bFor our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin... It is finished... so that in him we might become the righteousnessof God.

Worship with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

I’m Singing Tomlin/Cash/JobeOnly one name lasts forever, only one fame stands alone

Only one king has an anthem, that goes on and on and on

And I’m singing to the God who brings redemption to the nationsKings and oceans bow to Him in praise

And I’m singing to the God who wrote the book on our salvationTo the One who covers me in grace I’m singing

Only one word in the beginning, only one truth will prevailOnly one love brings you freedom, only one Man took the nails

Praise, praise to the Savior. Praise, to the Lamb Of GodPraise, in all of His splendor. Praise, for saving my life

I’m singing, I’m singing, I’m singing, I’m singing

Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah WilliamsGuide me, O Thou great Jehovah, pilgrim through this barren land.I am weak, but Thou are mighty; hold me with Thy powerful hand.

Bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore;Bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore.

Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing waters flow;Let the fiery cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through.Strong Deliverer, be Thou still my Strength and Shield;Strong Deliverer, be Thou still my Strength and Shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside;Death of death, and hell’s destruction, land me safe on Canaan’s side.

Songs of praises I will ever give to Thee;Songs of praises I will ever give to Thee.

You Are God Alone FooteYou are not a god, created by human hands

You are not a god, dependent on any mortal manYou are not a god, in need of anything we can give

By Your plan, that’s just the way it is

You are God alone, from before time beganYou were on Your throne, You are God alone

And right now, in the good times and badYou are on Your throne, You are God alone

You’re the only God, whose power none can contendYou’re the only God, whose name and praise will never end

You’re the only God, who’s worthy of everything we can giveYou are God, and that’s just the way it is

UnchangeableUnshakableUnstoppable

That’s what You are

The Lord Meets Us at His TableThe Sacrament of the Lord’s SupperCommunion, also called The Lord’s Supper or Eucharist, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committedfollowers of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims thegospel, who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live in a deeper communion with Jesus. If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the Church.

3 4, 5, & 6 year-old children may be dismissed before the sermon to Godly Play in room 173.5

Surrender CottrellNo more running, no more hiding.

No pretending I'm OK.No more struggling, no more fighting.

Come and have Your way.

I surrender, I bow down.I surrender, here and now.

I am captured, Yours forever.I surrender, I bow down.

You pursue me, You have found me.I fall helpless at Your feet.

Your possession, I am conquered.Love has set me free.

I come and worship, come and worshipWorship Christ, the risen king.

The Lord Blesses Us and Sends Us OutBenediction4 2 Thessalonians 2:16,17Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hopethrough grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

God and God Alone McHughGod and God alone

Is fit to take the universe’s throne.Let everything that lives reserve its truest praise

For God and God alone.

4 Just as God called us into His presence at the beginning, so now He commands His blessing upon us as we depart. We look up and extend our handsin a posture of thanksgiving as we receive this great gift. Our final response to God’s assurance of His peace and presence upon those who are in Christis a chorus of joyful song.
