What is the difference between DPE and DPA?CAHPERD says: • Physical Education is a school subject
designed to help children and youth develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for participating in active, healthy living.
• Physical activity is a movement of the body that expends energy; such as participation in sports, dance and exercise.

Alberta Program of Studies says: • The aim: is to enable individuals to
develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.
• Planning is NB to increase opportunities for learning and cannot be substituted with unstructured physical activity time, such as recess or free play.

Achieving PE outcomes
• The outcomes of the PE program are achieved through involvement in a variety of physical activities.

More approved words:
• Physical education places physical activity within a broader perspective of total fitness and well-being that encompasses the entire experience of movement – physical, mental, emotional and social dimensions.
• Students do not develop automatically the requisite KSAs that lead to an active lifestyle….
