CONTACT DOWNTOWN KINGSTON! NEWSLETTER - SUMMER 2017 THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT BUSKERS RENDEZVOUS! The 29th annual Kingston Buskers Rendezvous was a huge success! The four day festival welcomed exceptionally talented performers from all around the world. There were many new acts as well as several returning favourites. It was a great weekend with huge crowds and over $1200 raised for the United Way’s Success by Six program at the Grand Finale on Sunday in Confederation Park. The People’s Choice Award, presented at the Grand Finale, went to Mr Dyvinetz, a cyr wheel artist extraordinaire from Spain. This great event would never be possible without the talented buskers and our wonderful and supportive membership. We couldn’t do it without you! The streets within the construction zone will be: Princess St. from Clergy to Division Division St. from Brock to Princess Barrie St. from Princess to Queen (may occur in 2019) Division St. from Princess to Colborne (may occur in 2019) The exact phasing and timing of the work will be available when the contractor comes on board this fall. 1000 ISLANDS POKER RUN Aug 18-19Kingston will play host to Poker Runs America’s 1000 Islands Poker Run on the weekend of August 18-19. See the boats on display at Confederation Basin, and enjoy the action on the water – all FREE for spectators. The event begins on Friday night with a display of the boats in downtown Kingston and shifts into high gear on Saturday when the boats take off at approximately 10 am. August 24 - 27. Celebrating its 21st year, the festival opens on Thursday, August 24 with Blackburn. Dawn Tyler Watson will headline the Princess Street Stage on Friday August 25 with opener Adam Karch and special guest Angelique Francis. Nick Moss Band will be headlining the Springer Market Square Stage on Saturday, August 26 with openers Spencer MacKenzie & Carlos del Junco.
