What is Hoarding Behavior?
DSM-5(AmericanPsychiatricAssociaBon,2013)statesthatHoardingDisorderispresentwhenthefollowingcriteriaaremet:
o PersistentdifficultydiscardingorparBngwithpossessions,regardlessoftheiractualvalue.
o Thisdifficultyisduetoaperceivedneedtosavetheitemsanddistressassociatedwithdiscardingthem.
o ThesymptomsresultintheaccumulaBonofpossessionsthatcongestandclu>eracBvelivingareasandsubstanBallycompromisetheirintendeduse.
o Thehoardingcausesclinicallysignificantdistressorimpairmentinsocial,occupaBons,orotherimportantareasoffuncBoning.
o ThehoardingsymptomsarenotduetoageneralmedicalcondiBon.
