CONFERENCE SESSIONS Venue: The Point, Emirates Old Trafford

08.00 Registration and Coffee in The Marketplace.

09.00 Welcome to your sixth annual TheTicketingBusiness Forum

• Ian Nuttall, Co-Founder, TheTicketingBusiness, UK

• Gareth Deakin, Head Honcho, OA Consulting, UK

PLENARY INDUSTRY INSIGHTS Our opening keynote speakers set the tone and lead the agenda for the Forum. We’ll showcase the exponential growth of online ticketing in India, look into the key to product development and client-driven software design, and examine the application of technology to enhance the fan experience at North America’s leading visitor attractions – and lift the lid on ‘ticketing psychographics’.

09.15 GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES 10 Million Tickets a Month... and Rising!

There are big opportunities across the ticketing landscape and they don’t come much bigger than the entertainment market in India. One company has seized this opportunity and is riding high on its ticketing platform with integrations across the sub-continent into restaurant and travel bookings – with more to come. Bigtree Entertainment is India's premiere comprehensive ticketing, information and analysis solutions provider. If you don’t earn money, it’s not dhanda! We are delighted to welcome to the Forum:

• Anil Makhija, Head of Service Delivery, Bigtree Entertainment / BookMyShow, India

09.40 PRODUCTS & SERVICES Staying Ahead of The Game

With growing businesses, how do we merge cultures and platforms to create success? How do we best harness customer feedback and requirements to feed into product development? How do we build ever more agile teams? And what can ticketing learn from other fast-changing sectors?

• speaker tbc

10.05 EVENT ENGAGEMENT Beyond the Ticket: Enhancing the Event Experience

We’ll explore how festivals and theme parks are enhancing the customer event experience using tech, apps and engagement. Leading organisations are developing technology tools to create ‘customer experience engines’ which can analyse visitor behaviour, hoover up data and produce better targeted offerings in real-time. Of course, it all starts with the ticket and then continues to the next one.

11.00 DATA INSIGHTS Deep Strategic Insights to Illuminate Your Ticketing Business

Ticketing systems’ rich data sources can reveal subtle patterns of behaviour among our patrons, but what else is needed if we wish to influence future activity? Jo will show how powerful psychographics can help us orchestrate greater value from our databases and drive the shift from customer transactions to relationships.

• Jo Taylor, Senior Consultant, Morris Hargreaves McIntyre, UK

INNOVATION INTERVAL I POP-UP PRESENTATIONS

11.25 Our first interval which includes a series of innovations – delivered in quickfire format

FORUM DEBATE THE (MULTI)CHANNEL TUNNEL: A ROAD TO NOWHERE?

11.40 Many rightsholders are moving away from exclusive, single distributor deals and embracing the multi-channel route to retailing tickets. We’ve seen Major League Soccer embrace an API-based model where the league’s clubs can sell their tickets anywhere and at anytime – with all the data flowing back to the teams and league. The risks are greater, but the rewards greater still. But we’ve also seen Amazon come unstuck in its quest for inventory, despite its offer to remove some of the industry’s key pain points (such as booking fees). What kind of deals are working and what needs to change?

• Daniel Gidney, Chief Executive, Lancashire County Cricket Club, UK

• Carolyn Sims, Marketing Director, English National Opera, UK

• Fred de Graaf, Commercial Director, DG Theaterproducties, The Netherlands

PARALLEL SESSIONS TAKE YOUR PICK... AND ARRIVE EARLY TO GET A SEAT!N.B. The Forum programme continues in parallel tracks across three conference rooms.

10.45 MORNING COFFEE in The Marketplace

09.30-10.45 ROOM #1 PANEL THE BUSINESS OF TICKETING

FROM WALLED GARDEN TO OPEN FIELD

What value do we put on ticketing businesses in such a dynamic climate? Traditional ticketing companies have developed by buying the rights for long contracts with sign-on fees. This led to recurring revenues and growing EBITDA’s. Multiple xREV and xEBITDA have been the traditional valuation methodology. Open-API distribution platforms typically do not offer sign-on fees or long contracts – and are valued across customer lifetime valuations (like other SaaS businesses). The emergence of Silicone Valley and VC/Private Equity money is changing the game. The appetite for Mergers and Acquisitions is stronger than ever. We’ll discuss some of the key business drivers in our sector and the impact of new entrants on existing business models. Panellists include:

• Tim Chambers, Managing Director, TJChambers Consultancy, UK

• David Goldberg, Advisor, BookMyShow, USA

• Dr. Marcus Garbe, Managing Partner, Transaction Consulting, Switzerland

09.30-10.45 ROOM #2 DRIVING SALES THE MOVE TO MOBILE

Ditching Tout-Friendly Paper and Moving it all to the Mobile – with Refunds!

Islington Assembly Hall – an 800 capacity music and live entertainment venue in London – is the first UK venue to only sell tickets digitally thanks to a partnership with a music discovery and ticketing app. Tickets purchased via the app cannot be resold, but a refund service is available for those who can’t make it to a show.

• Lucinda Brown, Business Manager, Islington Assembly Hall, UK

Nimax installed a new eCommerce platform last August, with impressive results. The Nliven system was designed from a mobile handset backwards onto desktop, and its intuitive, ergonomic UI streamlines search, selection and fulfilment. This session follows Nimax' reasons for choosing Nliven, the installation process, a live demo, and feedback to date:

• Eddie Kemsley, CEO, KidZania London, UK

VIRTUAL QUEUEING We explore the evolution of Virtual Queueing vs the premium / priority access model used in visitor attractions – and draw on wider lessons for ticketing and the guest experience.

• Eric Petrusic, CTO, accesso, USA

OPEN MIC ATTRACTIVE ATTRACTIONS

The tourism visitor attraction segment is being challenged and driven by eight core technologies, claims PWC, the leading leisure consultancy. These are robots, drones, 3D printing, AI, the Internet of Things (IOT), blockchain, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. How is the sector responding to more information consumers with ever-increasing expectations? How will this impact the ticket-buying experiences down the line? Our roundtable aims to find answers.

CLOSING DEBATE THE END OF TICKETING?

14.45 Disruption and digital strategies are two of the key predicaments facing any technology-driven business. Drawing on the insights from this year’s Forum, our closing panellists will share their predictions for the future of entertainment ticketing and outline their advice for those wanting to make the most of the emerging opportunities.

15.30 PRIZES A WINNING HAND

13.30-14.45 ROOM #1 PANEL THE FUTURE OF THE AGENCY

Ticket agents have been a cornerstone of the industry since its inception. With the industry landscape evolving from Wild West to more chaotic civilisation, with live/dynamic data flows requiring more nimble/responsive agencies. The old allocation model is giving way to multi-channel, real-time sales with control back to the rights holder. The artist, management, promoter and venue call the shots with pricing and distribution. So what does the future hold for the traditional ticketing agent?

• Francis Hellyer, CEO, London Theatre Direct

• Yannick van der Voorde, Bus Dev Director, Oxynade, Belgium

• Jonathan Brown, Chief Executive, STAR (Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers), UK

13.30-14.45 ROOM #2 WINNERS’ TABLE THE BEST OF THE BEST

A special session dedicated to the recipients of TheTicketingBusiness Awards 2018 announced on the previous night. We’ll give the worthy winners (and some of the runners-up) the morning to prepare for this session. They tell their stories and outline their winning strategies, projects and solutions.
