Lecture series At Hist. Society Will Discuss Stocks/bonds The first in a series of lec- tures on many different top- ics will be held on Thursday, August 25 from 6:30PM to 7:30PM at the newly air-con- ditioned Museum of the For- est City Historical Society. As part of the Society’s new lecture series, John Re- vak, Simpson, a retired CPA, will present an instructional speech on “Getting start- ed investing in stocks and bonds” which will explain the steps you can take to get started investing. Mr. Revak will look at how you can buy individual stocks and bonds from the perspective of those having little money, or for those who might have a lump sum to invest. The lecture is designed for young families who want to start investing, and also for senior citizens looking for investing alternatives in a low interest environment. It can also be helpful to re- cent graduates who want to develop habits of saving through investments etc. As a retired Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Mr. Revak does not sell any products. His lecture is in- structional and informative for anyone with interest in investing. This year’s Forest City Re- gional Seventh Grade Orien- tation has been changed to Wednesday, August 24,. All Forest City Regional students who are entering sev- enth grade, their parents, and any new high school students to FCR are invited to aend. Refreshments and registration are from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m in the high school cafeteria. The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The program will include information concerning school policies, schedules, locker combinations, computer in- formation, a building tour, cafeteria info, etc. Parents will also have the opportunity to put payment on their child’s cafeteria account. Seventh grade students will receive their district computer laptops at orientation. A par- ent or guardian must be pres- ent to complete the necessary paperwork in order for his or her child to receive a comput- er. Also, students will receive notebooks and matching fold- ers for each of their core class- es. This is a very valuable and informative program; please make every effort to aend. Busing Schedule for 2016-17 Winners of the Wayne Memorial Community Health Cen- ters’ (WMCHC) Children’s Coloring Contest, Vanessa Hodg- es, 11, from Forest City and Brynn Mahon, 5, from Honesdale were each awarded a $50 gift certificate for their commend- able artwork. The contest, held in honor of National Health Center Week--August 7th to 13th, was open to all children up to age 12. The winning entries were selected on creativity, outstanding effort and neatness. WMCHC joined community health centers across the United States in observance of Na- tional Health Center Week to recognize its staff’s tireless ef- forts in making the community a healthier place.
