2017 Motor Vehicle Permits

Hamilton County Residents: $3 daily pass $10 annual pass

Non-residents of Hamilton County: $5 daily pass $14 annual pass

Permits are available for purchase at all visitor centers, boathouses, pro shops, ranger stations and online at greatparks.org.

A valid Motor Vehicle Permit is required to enter the parks. Cost for residents of Hamilton County: $10 annual/$3 daily; other visitors: $14 annual/$5 daily. Otto Armleder Memorial Park and Fernbank Park are cooperative ventures with the City of Cincinnati; a Motor Vehicle Permit is not required.

Some of the birds for this exhibit will be provided by Raptor, Inc., a local organization with a mission to rescue and rehabilitate injured and orphaned birds of prey. Sun 9/11, 11 a.m.:Kayak River TripACA Kayak Quick Start grads ages 14 and up are invited to a 7.1-mile trip down the scenic Little Miami River from Lake Isabella to Jim Terrell Park in Milford. Bring a lunch as we will stop and enjoy the sights and sounds of this natural scenic river! Lake Isabella/Canoe Kayak Launch ($35/person, register by 9/8)

Sat 10/15, 8 a.m.−2 p.m.:Rod Busting SeriesSome of the biggest catfish in the tristate live at Lake Isabella. During this tournament, two-person teams fish for a six-fish limit of catfish and carp. Teams will earn points at each tournament based on their place of finish, and the top two teams at each tournament will win prizes. A grand prize will be awarded to the series champions after this event on October 15. Lake Isabella/Boathouse ($40/team)

MIAMI WHITEWATER FOREST

Sat 9/3–Sat 10/8, 4 p.m.:Get Golf Ready LeagueAs a follow up to the Get Golf Ready instructional program, this six-week, four-hole league will help students transition from the range to the course in a scramble format. Each week includes 45 minutes of warm-up and individual instruction on a particular shot. Miami Whitewater Forest/Golf Course ($15/person + $12 weekly greens fees)

Fri 9/9, 11 a.m.:All About ButterfliesRegister your 2–4 year old for this exciting program all about the beautiful butterflies we see fluttering about. The program will be followed by storytime and a craft. Miami Whitewater Forest/Visitor Center ($6/child, register by 9/7)

Sat 9/10, 1 p.m.:Pollinator PowerBees, butterflies and birds all play an important role in bringing us some of our favorite flowers and foods. Learn about the special ways these mighty creatures make it all happen. Miami Whitewater Forest/Visitor Center (Free)

Thu 9/15, 1–3 p.m.:Homeschool Science (West): Matter & MotionHome-schooled students, ages 5–12, and parents are invited to explore interactive learning stations, lessons and a guided outdoor exploration. Miami Whitewater Forest/Visitor Center ($6/child, register by 9/13)

Fri 9/16, 7:30 p.m.:Night Bike RideGrab your bike and get outside to experience the park “after hours” on an evening ride! Enjoy a 7.8–mile pedal around the Shaker Trace Trail while the sun sets and nighttime takes over. Need more? Bike the loop again for a total of 15.6 miles! Front/back lights and helmets required. Miami Whitewater Forest/Shaker Trace Trail ($6/person, register by 9/14)

Sat 9/17, Noon–3 p.m.:Take a Hike Scavenger HuntStop by the visitor center to pick up your scavenger hunt list, then head out to one of our wooded trails in search of the items. Return your completed sheet to the visitor center by 4 p.m. to claim your prize. Miami Whitewater Forest/Visitor Center (Free)

Sun 9/18, 9:30 a.m.–noon:Birding by BoatExplore the lake with a Great Parks’ naturalist and kayak instructor! We’ll quickly review paddle strokes and safety techniques before paddling to some great bird watching locations. All equipment is provided. For adults and children ages 14 and up. Mon 9/19–Mon 10/17, 5:30 p.m.:Ladies 5-hole Fall LeagueDuring this 5-hole league, participants receive instruction about different topics prior to play. Explore the lake by boat, climb a rock wall and head through a 65-foot inflatable obstacle course. And don’t miss out sampling beers from Braxton Brewing Company! For ages 21 and up. Sat 11/12, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.:Turkey Day OpenIt’s the last fishing tournament of the year! Any and all species of fish will be weighed-in at this fun tournament. Prize certificates, trophies and two plump turkeys will be awarded to the winning team. Registration begins one hour before the start of the tournament. Miami Whitewater Forest/Boathouse ($40/team)

Sun 11/13, 1 p.m.:Off the Beaten PathTake the path less traveled as we explore the surprises of the fall forest. We will be off-trail on uneven terrain for much of the hike. Miami Whitewater Forest/Timberlakes Program Shelter (Free)
