Mental & Emotional Health of 16 year olds

• 29% 16 year olds indicated potential psychiatric disorder

26% reported had experienced serious mental or emotional problem in last 12 months

Nearly 40% stressed often or very often

Mental & Emotional Health of Adults

• 39% under ‘quite a lot’ or ‘a great deal’ of stress (2010/11)

• Nearly one in five adults in NI with a potential psychiatric disorder (2010/11).

• More than 1 in 10 on medication from their GP for mood or anxiety disorders (2008). In North or West Belfast this rises to nearly one in seven.(NIHIMS)

• N.I 25% higher rate mental health problems than in England
