    What is the program?

    A one-year technical certification program for trainees in their very first year in Cognizant

    A skill upgrade program to provide structured competency development in a specified technical track to enable a career growth path

    A benchmarking program to baseline the technical skill set of the trainees in their first year to dovetail them into a set of career development opportunities as they progress after year-1

    What is the program?

    Competency development is through self-learning (alongside regular project work)

    Dovetail Certification is split into 2 Phases (or assessments)

    Phase I Competencies to be acquired in the first 7 months in the specified track

    Phase II Competencies to be acquired in the next 4 months in the specified track (successful Phase I completion is mandatory before starting Phase II)

    Successful completion of Phase I and Phase II assessments is a pre-requisite for confirming the trainee in the 12th month

    Trainees are enrolled into Dovetail after CATP.

    Trainees are provided access to Skillsoft e-learning courses in ELM. Trainees are also advised to enroll themselves to internal eLearning's and ILT (classroom) training sessions conducted by the Academy from time to time and benefit out of the same.     Click Search Catalog on Self-Service and then enter the code NQTLF8 to access ELM for Dovetail Users (eLearning)

    Submit Enrolment and launch the course

    Dovetail Assessments

    Phase I Assessments:

    Scope: Competencies to be acquired in 1-6 months in the specified track

    Pre-requisite: Successful completion of CATP

    Assessment window: 5th to 7th month from Date of Joining

    Max. No. of Attempts for each assessment: 2

    Phase II Assessments:

    Scope: Competencies to be acquired in 7-11 months in the specified track

    Pre-requisite : Successful completion of Phase I

    Assessment window: 8th to 11th month from Date of Joining

    Max. No. of Attempts for each assessment: 2

    Dovetail Assessments

    The assessments must be scheduled in ELM.

    The assessments have to be taken only on the date and timeslot scheduled in ELM and only in a proctored environment at one of the designated Cognizant locations.

    Trainees are required to clear assessments conducted through internal dovetail portal as applicable.

    A two week gap is mandatory between taking two attempts of the same assessment

    Passing grade is 60%

    No extension of timelines / extra attempts would be given.

    A track is a specialization on which a trainee needs to acquire specific set of competencies. Below are the competency tracks that can support long-term career growth of the associate.

    Tracks change process

    Default track assigned to trainee

    A trainee is by default allocated to the track in which he or she has been trained

    during the CATP and based on the vertical/Horizontal allocation.

    Change of default track

    In case of any changed business requirement / technology, the Business Unit

    decides on changing the dovetail track of a trainee. Any change from the default

    track should be relevant to the trainees current project engagement or the

    long-term career growth path of the trainee.

    Track change is entertained only if there is a compelling business case

    associated with it.

    The trainee should send an approval mail from the supervisor to the Dovetail

    helpdesk team requesting enablement of track change in ELM.

    Change of track needs to be initiated within 2 weeks from the day of dovetail

    enrollment

    Performance Management

    The trainee needs to clear Dovetail certification (i.e. successfully clear Phase I and Phase II assessments) before the completion of 11th month from Date of Joining (DOJ) in order to be eligible for confirmation.

    Obtaining Dovetail certification only does not guarantee confirmation. It is one of the eligibility criterion.

    If the trainee has not cleared Dovetail assessments, his or her performance document will not be generated and the supervisor will be intimated of the same.
