The house has a small footprint with minimal integratedtechnologies, therefore allowing it to become an affordable
passive home for its occupants. Smart design solutions, such as strategically placed windows to promote cross
ventilation; no windows on the south facade to prevent unwanted solar heat gain; specifically designed overhangs that shade
summer sun and allow for the winter sun to hit the wall; the use of thermal mass to allow for the volumes to radiate heat gained during winter days into the interior space during the night time
as a source of heating, are just a few examples of innovative design solutions that make this a passive home. The small design
solutions, allow for the elimination of over cumbersomemachinery, such as HVAC systems, which can take a huge toll on
your monthly electric bill.
