The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth

my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalms 23:1-5

For My HusbandTwo roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel bothAnd be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I couldTo where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;Though as for that the passing there

Had whom them really about the same

And both that morning equally layIn leaves no step had trodden black.Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sighSomewhere ages and ages hence;

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.You did it your own way Doug.

Love, Shirley

D ouglas Moore was born February 17, 1948 to the late John and Minnie Nettles Moore. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a young man and joined Mount Moab Baptist Church,

Legrand, Alabama. Douglas, affectionately known as “Doug,” served as a deacon and Trustee at Mt. Moab for over 20 years and remained a faithful member until his passing. In 1971, Douglas married Shirley Ann Huffman. From this union, one child was born, his cherished daughter, Carmen Denesa Moore-Zeigler.As a young man, Doug was given many responsibilities, and like always, he rose to every occasion. Doug was a creator, an innovator, and a community advocate. He was a free thinker, a trailer blazer, and a visionary who knew as a young man that he would be his own boss. Neither time nor space would allow us to adequately convey his many attributes and talents.To say that Doug Moore lived a varied life is an understatement; he, indeed, was a man of many talents. From owning lounges and restaurants like The Executive III Lounge, The Den, and Minnie’s BBQ, to establishing businesses such as a cosmetics line called “Carmen,” the Zebra Corporation, AM Courier Services, and Sunbelt Motors, Doug dreamed big. Doug also started the Black Economic Development and, along with Jack Crittenden, founded the Alabama Republican Council. At the time of his passing, he was founder and president of The Moore-Zeigler Group, a lobbying and business consulting firm, which he

shared with his daughter, Carmen Moore Zeigler. Doug was preceded in death by his father and mother, John Moore and Minnie Nettles Moore. He leaves to cherish his memories a dedicated wife of 45 years, Shirley Ann Moore; a loving daughter,

C a r m e n Denesa Moore-Zeigler; a devoted son-in-law, Henry Zeigler, and the apple of his eye, his

granddaughter, Ada Brianna Zeigler, “Belle” or “The Lady” as he affectionately called her. Doug also leaves to cherish 11

brothers and sisters; Mary (Arange) Clemons, Dongola, IL; John (Audrey) Moore, Columbia,

SC; James (Salena) Moore, Tommie (Aaron) McCall, Montgomery, AL; Robert (Margrit) Moore, Huntsville, AL; Virginia (Fred) Bell, Nettles (Diane) Moore, Melvin (Mashellda) Moore, Linda (Greg Williams) McCoy, Veronica (Duane) Harris, and Carl Moore, all of Montgomery, AL; brothers-in-law, Eddie (Ramona) Sneed, Willie Frank (Betty) Sneed; sister-in-law Pauline Jackson;

paternal aunts, Estelle Franklin and Mary Nettles, Montgomery, AL; a host of loving nephews, nieces, other relatives, loved ones, and devoted friends.

Order of ServiceWish I could go back to the day when the Angels came and took you away. I wanted to hold your hand so tight, kiss you gentle, and say goodnight and then just before you have to go… I would tell you

how much I loved you so. I don’t know how I don’t know why I never got a chance to say goodbye. I love you and I will miss you Papi! Love, Ada “Belles”Love, Ada “Belles”Wish I could go back to the day when the Angels came and took you away. I wanted to hold your hand

I have to admit thatI was a Daddy’s girl.

He told me he loved me betterThan anything else in the world.

When I became a womanHe walked me down the aisle,

And gave me awayWith a bittersweet smile.

And when I gave birth,He was there, too

To greet my little one and sayHello, I love you.

And now that man who loved me,And wrapped me in his arms so strong

Has gone where I can’t reach him,But my love for him lives on.

I’ll keep his memory alive,And honor all he believed,

And just feel so very gratefulFor all his love that I received.

With all my love; until I see you again,Carmen

Heaven called you as your unexpected time has come, words unspoken, I am sure all of us have some regrets and wishes are probably there too, but lasting forever are our fond and

loving memories of you. You stood tall and were a pioneer in so many ways, as you took on many challenges and faced each one in a firm, outspoken, yet calm way. You gave great advice, visited the elderly and sick, and saw about anyone in need. It’s evident you cared for others and was a man of God indeed. God had you here for a special reason, and only He knew it was time for your season. You have left a legacy behind for all of us to follow. You were an icon and a present day legend; now you have gained your wings, and are with our mother and father in Heaven. A thousand words won’t bring you back; we know because we’ve tried; neither will a thousand tears; we know because we’ve cried. We miss you so much and in our hearts you will always hold a special place. We will miss your “big smile” and fond-loving ways. All the good times and memories we’ve shared; from our minds they will never fade nor will they be erased. Our mother said, “It’s cheaper by the dozen”, but now our family chain is broken and nothing will be the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. So today, we have to say “farewell” Doug. Thank you for the laughter and joy that you brought to all of us. It hurts to say good-bye more than words can express, but we find comfort in knowing that we will meet again someday as we keep the faith. We Love You,Your Sisters and Brothers

An Angel whispered take my hand and come

with me you’re work here is done.

I went away to a place where there’s no tears,

nor sorrow only laughter and smiles, there will

always be a Tomorrow.

As I move amongst the clouds. I’ll look down

and smile upon you, while the angels sing a

heavenly song.

I am not alone all who went before

are here they awaited my return. I know you’ll

grieve and wish I was still here. I am here in the

memories

you hold dear.

Remember how much I love you and know I

took your love with me.

Soon you’ll come to me until then God will be

with you

Just as He’s with me. I did not wish for you to

cry, nor feel sad. My pain is gone and

I am Free!
