    IMPORTANT!Competitors are advised that from the moment of entry intothe event the decisions of all Judges, Referees and membersof Games Workshop Staff regarding the fair adjudication ofthe Event rules, and in all issues of health and safety arefinal.

    No discussions will be entered into once a decision is made.This applies to rules adjudications, the scores applied for anycategory of the Event and any issu\cooperation of thecompetitors.

    Once the Event results are published, we cannot alter them

    in any way. Any breach of this will be considered a Red Cardoffence at the Event. The Senior Referees decision will be

    We require that all people attending the event are inpossession of English Language translations of the CoreRulebook and t he appropriate supplement books. This shouldhelp resolve any rul es queries more quickly and eff iciently,allowing mi nimal disruptio n to the games.

    INTRODUCTIONThank you f or att ending t he Warhammer World DoublesEvent. In order for you to have a great weekend of gaming,there are a few thi ngs you wi ll need t o be aware of . We askthat you t ake the time to read thi s introdu ction and abide by

    the advice it gives.

    First and foremost, the Referees are always right. Even if theirdecision is in direct cont ravention of the rules, every singleplayer at the event is obliged to accept their rulings.

    Secondly, we insist on the highest standards of behaviourfro m everyone att ending the event. This applies to yourdealings wit h t he event staff, w ith each ot her and tow ardsthe general publi c. Your games wil l be taking pl ace in apublic venue and we ask that you are mindful of this at alltimes.

    Thirdly, entry into the Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Eventrequires that you have an Army, which has all t he modelsfully painted and based in an appropriate manner. If you

    have any doubts about what thi s means, then we suggest youseek furt her advice from th e Rules of Engagement found onthe main web site. Doubles Events are a chance for players toshow off their combined hobby skills; while w ere not lookingfor Golden Demon standard from everyone, we do requirethat the Army is painted and based in an appropriate mannerto a good standard.

    Finally, we ask t hat you consider carefully i n advance of t heevent the number of min iatures you will be fielding w ithinyour armies in comparison to the amount of time you willhave to play th e dif ferent scenarios. This will be a bri sk pacedweekend and we will be playing to t he time allotted to thescenarios, so b e w arned!

    RULES OF ENGAGEMENTThere are certain expectations placed upon our players whenthey att end a Warhammer World Event. Due to a lack ofspace with in our event packs, players can now find a separatedocument o n t he main Games Workshop Web site th at

    details specif ic requirements and standards that relate t oissues of Army Paint ing , Spor tsmanship, The Best Paint edArmy Award, Army Rosters & the Roster Penalty andReferees.

    All of these have a direct bearing on your event experience,and its a condition of entry that you have read them,understood them and are following them in all aspects overthe course of the weekend. You have been w arned!

    HOW THE DOUBLES EVENT

    WORKS - DOUBLING UP!The Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Event is a competition tofind the two best Warhammer 40,000 Generals through their

    use of tw o alli ed fo rces. The fo llow ing terms are usedthrough out this pack and have the f ollowin g meanings:

    FORCE is used t o describe t he uni ts under one playerscontrol.

    ARMY is used to describe the combined for ces of the t woplayers

    Please do no t expect anything ot her t han a sligh tly chaoti c,hecti c weekend of fun games, played wit hin a looselycompetit ive framewo rk. As such, the rules of engagement arediff erent; please take the time to try them out before theevent and contact us if you have any questions.

    Additionally, we will be celebrating the skills of exceptionalhobbyists and rewarding those who embody great sporting

    behaviour. For this to happen successfully, there are somefundamental principles that must be adhered to by all playerswho attend t his event.

    The Doubles Event consists of six games or rounds, eachlasting 2 hours, including the w arm-up and ro ster check. Inthe first round, teams will be matched randomly against anopposing team. In each subsequent round , teams wi ll befacing appropriate opponents according to their ranking.Should a team draw the same opponents again, ask a Refereeto step in t o sort thi ngs so t hat t he teams face suit ableopponents.

    You w ill be assigned a t able fo r your game. Any team thatdoes not have an opponent should raise their h and and callfor a Referee, who will attempt t o find opponents for t hem.

    If this is not possible and the opponent does not arrivewithin 15 minutes of the start time for the game, then theywill be considered to be late for their game, and may facesuitable action from the Referees as a result.

    Before battle commences there will be a five-minute warm-up period. During this period players must first show theiropponent all t he models in t heir Forces. Players are allow edto ask t heir opponent questions about the Forces and t herules that apply to t hem.

    After inspecting the Forces, all players should discuss theterrain for the batt le, and how each feels it w ill aff ect t hemodels in play. They can also discuss any other rules pointsthat t hey think may come up in t he battle.

    Each battle wi ll be fought on a 6 by 4 table with f ixedscenery; if you are unhappy w it h t he scenery layout, alert aReferee who w ill ensure the layout is fair, however theReferee may insist you use the table as is .

    The Batt lefield Condi ti ons used each roun d wi ll be generatedrandomly by t he event or ganisers.

    Once youve fini shed your game, you must fil l in t he result scard and then hand it in at the information desk. Your resultswill then be ent ered int o t he tourn ament database. This willdecide the n ew rankings and ult imately the w inners of the

    Tournament.

    In each round onwards teams will be facing appropriateopponents according t o their ranking . Should a team drawthe same opponents again, a Referee wil l step in and sortth ings out so t hat t he teams face suit able oppon ents.

    SELECTING AN ARMYOnly the main lists from the following Warhammer 40,000codexes may be used. In the instance of a new codex beingreleased or updated, it will only be valid for use providing ithas been on sale for one f ull calendar month prior t o t heevent.

    DOUBLES ARMY CONSTRUCTIONYou must follow the standard force organisation chart for thecreation of your army. In thi s Warhammer 40,000 DoublesTournament an Army of 1500pts must contain the following:

    2 Forces of no mo re than 750 points each. You may nottransfer unused points between Forces.

    Each player must pro vide 1 HQ and 1 Troop unit as a basisof their ind ividual Forces.

    You may then take further troop units up to themaximum allowance of 6, as per the organization chart.

    If you wish to t ake, Elite, Fast At tack or Heavy Supportyou may take them in your combined army; however youmust fill each of the selections first in order to get asecond choice from one of these unit types e.g. You have2 HQs, 2 Troops, one Elit e, one Fast At tack and one Heavysupport choice before you can add subsequent Elite, FastAttack or Heavy Support choices. Troop units are notaff ected by this restr iction.

    Any units that dont take up a place in the ForceOrganisation chart are to be used as per their rules intheir respective codexes, and are no t affected by t herestri cti on stat ed previously for oth er types of u nit s.

    You cannot use two 0-1 in a combined army of tw o standalone Armies; this is breaking the rules slightly, as theunits are 0-1 for a reason.

    0 1 relates firstly to t he 750 point f orce, and in the case

    of a Battle Brothers Army, across the combined army. 1+ is the same; apply it to t he Force first, then across theArmy in a Batt le Brothers force.

    ARMY ROSTERThe key message here is, if the Referees cant read it orunderstand it, then dont be surprised if they decide to dosomething about it.

    When you arrive at the event you must bring at least twotyped copies of your Army Roster following the guidancenot es found i n t he Full Tournament Rules on t he main GWWebsite:

    One is for the Referees to refer t o, whi le the other i s for youto use during the event.

    Referees will also apply the Roster Penalty for any rostersthey feel are either incorrect or below the required standardfo r each of the games it was used in. It must be presented inEnglish, and contain t he follow ing inf ormation:

    Player Name, Ticket Number and Team name (whereappropriate).

    The name of t he models used in your army, as well astheir points value.

    Any extra equipment or special items must be clearlymarked along wit h t heir point s cost.

    TEAM ALLIANCESEach Army may ally with only the races shown on the Alliances chart below. Simply cross-reference the races you wish to allywit h. The followin g not ations represent:

    B = Battle Brothers Same race, so no problems.T = Trusted Allies no special rules, alliance is permitted.D = Distrustful Allies permit ted, but allied uni ts and characters with in 6 of each other suffer a -1 Leadership penalty (aft er

    other modifiers).

    X = Disallowed cannot ally under any circumstances.

    OBJECTIVE COUNTERSFor some scenarios you w ill be required to supply up t o f iveobjective markers or counters on t he batt lefi eld. Theseshould be mod elled on a foot print no larger than a 40mmround base. They have no eff ects on t he t errain w hatsoeverother than to mark a point on the batt lefield.

    DECIDING WHO WINS

    THE TOURNAMENTAft er each game you must record t he follow ing inf ormationon t he result s card provided: Result o f t he game (Win, Lose, Draw or Concede), The number of Tournament Points each player has scored

    (see the t able below ). The number of Victory Points both you and your

    opponents have scored. (This will be used as a tie break inthe event of a tie in your overall Tournament points).

    The number of Kill Points scored or Objectives taken byboth you and your opponent.

    Players wi ll be ranked in order o f Tournament Points. If t hereis a tie, then players that have scored the same number ofTournament Point s wil l be separated by th eir to tal Victorypoints, then their Cumulative Kill Point total.Tournament Point s are awarded as fol low s:

    Please Note: The Kill Point s generated i n Annihi latio nscenarios are used t o determine t he result of the game andare separate from the Generalship score.

    AWARDS CEREMONYThe award ceremony will take place as soon as possible afterthe conclusion of the final game. We urge all players to stayfo r t he awards ceremony so t hat t hey can cheer the w innersand commiserate w it h t he losers!There will be several awards handed out at the end of theevent. These include:

    Best General - A trop hy for t he players that win the overalleventSecond Place Award A certi ficate fo r t he players whocome second

    Third Place Award A cert ifi cate f or t he players who comethird

    In addition, other awards may be made at the discretion ofthe to urnament organisers. These have been included inorder t o add some fun to the weekends gaming . These are:

    The Emperors Champions Aw ards - This is a title bestowedby t he Referees on t he players who have demonstratedsport smanship above and beyond t he generally highexpectations of all tournament-goers.The Adepts of Mars Award This award is for the playersthat received t he most votes fo r having t he Best PaintedArmy.The Chosen of Khorne Award This award is given for themost Victo ry Point s scored by bot h t eams in one game.The Colonel Schaeffer Award the team who gave awaythe most cumulat ive victo ry point s over the course of t heweekend, thus giving t heir troo ps every opportunit y toachieve a glorious death in battle.The Battle Brothers Award Those entering with a group offriends as a larger group to the event need to inform us uponregistration. This is a title for the best performing group.Worked out by dividing their combined score by the numberof members.Closest Run Thing the smallest victor y poin ts diff erencebetween both players in one game.Biggest Victory the t wo players wit h t he largest pointsmargin over their opponents in a single game.The Bloodthirster Award This is a title for the team of twothat scored t he most Victory Point s over the w eekend.
