Making my double page spread

Page 2: Double Page

The is the original photograph that will be on my double page spread. The picture is of the girl featured in my article.

I then used photo-shop to manipulate this photo. I cut the photo out and placed it on it’s own in a new document.

I made the background black and then downloaded some paint splat brushes and had a play around on what colours to add to make the page eye catching and interesting.

I decided to stick to my colour scheme on the front cover to go a long with codes and conventions, to give it a more professional effect, and so it doesn’t look too busy.

I then made the header, I used the same title font as I have for my front page and contents page. I decided to do this to continue the house style throughout my magazine. However I used a different font for the last name to make it interesting and not to similar that it looks boring.

I set out my double page spread and were I would put all the text for the article.

I had guide lines to make sure that the columns all were in line and so was the text to make sure it is easy to read. Using Indesign is very helpful for this as it is professional publisher

After I wrote in all the text I staggered the background boxes behind the text so each column gets longer. This also allows for the reader to be attracted to read the page by seeing the bright colours and the text not getting lost in front of the paint splats.

The text being black matches the background colour which means the colour scheme runs throughout, and looks like a cool effect which my target audience would be attracted to.

I then added the quote from the article to above the picture. I decided to do this as it looked empty and a waste of space. Adding this text is also a convention from real magazines they have quotes from in the actual article that are interesting to make readers intrigued to read the article as the quote doesn’t give anything away but is interesting.
