Stem-Changing verbs

So far, we’ve learned several stem-changing verbs.

Tener (to have) and Venir (to come to an event/place) are two examples of these verbs.

In both of these verbs, the E in the stem changes to IE in all forms but nosotros and vosotros.

What is it?

Again, a stem-changing verb is a verb that has the typical endings of the verb ending.

All the endings of tener and venir correspond to what should end an –er or an –ir verb. (Well, except for yo…)

What IS different is that when you take the ar/er/ir ending off the verb, the remaining stem undergoes a change BEFORE conjugation.
