How we build them to last

- Doors are formed of two

- Doors are internally reinforced with pairs of hat-shaped steel stiffeners. These stiffen-ers are joined together and run vertically (not more that 6 « apart) the full length of the door. The stiffeners are spot welded every 4»

- Voids between stiffeners are filled with Poly-

styrene, Polyurethane or small celled Honey-comb core.

- There are no seams on the faces or edges of the doors. Vertical edges of the doors are continuously seam-welded the full height of the door.

- Exterior doors are capped to retard moisture from penetrating the door.

- Hinge reinforcements are 3/16» thick.

- All steel doors are internally reinforced at the top with a 12 gauge plate on both sides of the door. This is for application of surface applied door closers and holders.

- Glass window kit is of standard steel

- Louvers are standard design for required ap-plications.

- Doors are chemically pre-treated and given one coat of rust inhibitive metal primer.

Hollow Metal Doors-Honeycomb Composite Construc-tion

1. Materials: Face sheets are made of 18 or 16 gauge commercial quality, level sheet steel conforming to ASTM A 366 Cold Rolled or Galvanized steel. Tested with ITS/Warnock Hersey in accordance with ASTM E-152, CAN S-104, CSFM 43.7, NFPA252, UBC 43.2, UL10B and UL10C. Modi Steel Door exceeds all requirements of SDI 100.

2. Construction: Door edges are a welded construc-tion with no visible seams or joints on their faces. Min-imum door thickness is 1 ¾”. Edges are constructed with a 1/8” in 2” bevel.

3. The standard 18 gauge door comes with a resin im-pregnated honeycomb core bonded into position with contact adhesive. This door may also be ordered with special cores for temperature rise ratings or special STC sound ratings.

4. Top and bottom edges of all doors are closed with a continuous recessed steel channel not less than 16 gauge, extending the full width of the door and spot welded to both faces. Openings are provided in the bottom closure of exterior doors to permit the escape of entrapped moisture.

5. Modi Steel Door is provided with an installed fire rated top rod only vertical rod panic exit device, dual-lever, push- pull or auto flushbolt. Modi Steel Door may be provided with an installed continuous hinge or it can be prepared for butt hinges or pocket pivots.

6. Hardware Reinforcements: Hinge and pivot rein-forcements 7 gauge. Reinforcements for lock face, flush, bolts, concealed holders & closers 11 gauge. Surface mounted closers 14 gauge. All other hard-ware reinforcements 14 gauge.

7. Glass Moldings: Where specified doors are pro-vided with hollow metal moldings to secure glazing by others in accordance with glass opening sizes shown on approved shop drawings. Fixed moldings are inte-gral with the door skin on the security side.

8. Finish: After fabrication, all tool marks and surface imperfections are dressed, filled and sanded as re-quired to make all faces and vertical edges smooth, and level. Modi Steel Door is then chemically treated to insure maximum paint adhesion and coated, on all exposed surfaces, with a rust inhibitive primer which

is fully cured before shipment.- Modi Steel Door may also be prefinished to match existing paints. - Modi Steel Door may also have High Pressure Laminates applied to the faces of the door and maintain up to a 3-Hour fire rating.

CCD 1 Series Specifications

Doors shall be CCD 1 Series as manufactured by Modi Steel Door, Mason City, Iowa. Doors are to be manu-factured of the finest quality 18, 20 (specify gauge) cold rolled stretcher leveled steel. All doors shall be full flush construction 1-3/4» (44) thick. Doors shall be reinforced, stiffened, insulated, and sound deadened with a solid polystyrene foam board permanently bonded to the inside of each face skin. The lock and hinge edge of each door shall be welded with acentered hairline seam the full height of the door (CCD 1S).

The lock edge shall be reinforced full height by a 16 gauge continuous one piece channel x extruded templat-ing. The hinge edge shall be reinforced full height by a 14 gauge continuous one piece channel, formed and tapped for hinges. Top and bottom of the door shall be closed with 18 gauge channels. Doors are square hinge and lock edge featuring a non-handed design. Doors shall be thor-oughly cleaned and receive an iron phosphate treatment prior to receiving one coat of prime paint. Minimum hard-ware reinforcement shall consist of the following: Closers – Overhead Holders – Rim Panics, 14 gauge channels; Butts and Locks as previously specified herein.

All doors shall be full flush construction and either 1- 3/4» (44) or 1-3/8» (35) thick. Doors shall be reinforced, stiffened, insulated, and sound deadened with a solid polystyrene foam board permanently bonded to the inside of each face skin. the finest quality 16, 18, (specify gauge) cold rolled stretcher leveled steel or galvannealed steel (specify). All doors shall be full flush construction 1-3/4» (44) thick. Doors shall be reinforced, stiffened, insulated, and sound deadened with a solid UL listed mineral core board perma-nently bonded to the inside of each face skin. The lock and hinge edge of each door shall be welded with a centered hairline seam the full height of the door (CCD 3S) OR both the lock and hinge edge of each door shall be welded, filled and ground smooth (seamless) the full height of the door (CCD 3N)OR the lock and hinge edge of each door may have the center seam continuously wire welded the full height of the door, filled and ground smooth (CCD 3T). The lock edge shall be reinforced full height by a 14 gauge continuous one piece channel x extruded templating.

Integral armor plating inside of the door shall provide bullet resistive properties in accordance to UL Level 2, HPSA listing. Doors shall comply withspecifications defined herein forCommercial Security Hollow Metal Doorsand Frames. Doors shall have passedperformance criteria set forth bynationally recognized standards such asHMMA 862-87. Removable glazing stopsare to be 18 gauge concealed type. Doorsshall be 2” (51) thick and reinforced with18 gauge stiffeners welded to each faceskin 4” (102) on center with spot welds 4”(102) on center the full height of thedoor. The stiffener ends are to be weldedtogether the full width of the supportingweb span at the top and bottom of thedoor. The standard core shall be insulatingand sound-deadening 1 lb densityfiberglass insulation. The lock edge shallbe reinforced full height by a 14 gaugecontinuous one piece channel x extrudedtemplating. The hinge edge shall bereinforced full height by a 12 gaugecontinuous one piece channel, formedand tapped for hinges. Top and bottom ofthe door shall be closed with 14 gaugetop and 16 gauge bottom channels. Thetop of the door shall be flush with anadditional 18 gauge channel welded inplace. Doors shall have beveled 1/8” (3) in2” (51) lock edge and hinge edge. The lockand hinge edge of each door shall bewelded with a centered hairline seam thefull height of the door (SSD 4S) OR both the lock and hinge edge of each door shall bewelded, filled and ground smooth(seamless) the full height of the door(SSD 4N) OR the lock and hinge edge ofeach door may have the center seamcontinuously wire welded the full heightof the door, filled and ground smooth(SSD 4T). Doors shall be thoroughly cleanedand receive an iron phosphate treatmentprior to receiving one coat of prime paint.Minimum hardware reinforcement shallconsist of the following: Closers –Overhead Holders 12 gauge channels –Rim Panics, 14 gauge channels; Butts andLocks as previously specified herein. Specifications 1. HR doors shall be formed from two 18 gage A60

Galvannealed Steel per ASTM A924 and A653 and shall be 1-3/4” thick.

2. CHR doors shall be formed from two 16 or 18 gage A60 Galvannealed steel per ASTM A924 and A653 and shall be 1-3/4” thick.

3. Doors shall have a core of rigid mineral core. The core shall have a nominal density of 20.0 #/ft3, with a K factor of 0.65 per ASTM C-518

4. HR doors shall have vertical mechanical interlocking seams on hinge and lock edges. The seam shall be tack welded every 12”.There shall be no seam on the faces of door.

5. CHR doors shall have no seams on the faces or edg-es of doors. Vertical edges of doors shall be continu-ously seam- welded full height of the door.

6. All hinge reinforcements shall be 3/16” thick.

7. All doors shall be internally reinforced with a 12 gage plate both sides of the door for application of surface applied door closures and holders.

8. Glass light moulding shall be Pioneer standard steel moulding, with no exposed screws on the secure side of door.

9. All doors shall be cleaned and given one coat of baked –on rust- inhibitive metal primer in compliance with ANSI A250.10-2004

10. All fire rated doors, where indicated, shall be manu-factured in accordance with UL or WHI procedures and bear the appropriate classification mark (label) with reference to Temperature Rise at 30 minutes of 250 F or 450 F. as required.

11. Door construction complies with ANSI A250.8-2003 (SDI 100)

12. Doors shall be packaged to minimize damage in transit and handling.

13. Hardware reinforcements are in a cordance with ANSI A 250.6-2003. Locations are in accordance with ANSI/BHMA A156.115

Modi Steel offers a complete line of flush frames that areavailable in 18, 16, 14, and 12 gauge cold-rolled orgalvannealed steel and in 16 or 14 gauge stainlesssteel. Frames can be knocked down, set up and spotwelded at miters, or set up and arc welded at mitersand ground smooth. The 12 gauge frames are sawmiter welded or saw butt end welded, cornerconstruction only. They are available for either 1-3/8"(35) or 1-3/4" (44) thick doors. Modi Steel frames aremanufactured for all wall conditions such as masonry,steel stud, wood stud, and poured concrete.

• Frame face Variables: Modi Steel offers pre-engineered, knock-down (KD) flush frames with face dimensions of 1" (25), through 4" (102) in 1/8" (3) increments.

• Frame return variables from 7/16" (11) through1" (25).

• Non-door rabbet variables from 5/8" (16) through 6" (152).

• Frame sizes available to match door sizes, in any combination of singles or pairs. Non-standard width or height frames are available on special order.

SpecificationsFrames shall be M Series as manufactured by Modi Steelof Mason City, Iowa. Frames are to be fabricated ofeither cold-rolled or galvannealed steel (as specified)of either 18, 16, or 14 gauge. Joints are to be die-mitered with integral tabs for reinforcement andinterlocking of the jambs to the head. 12 gauge framesare saw miter or saw butt end corner construction.Frames shall be knock-down or set-up and welded.Frames shall be thoroughly cleaned and receive an ironphosphate treatment prior to receiving one coat ofbaked on prime paint. Frames are to be reinforced onlyfor surface mounted hardware, with drilling andtapping to be done in the field by others.
