It’s April. What a wonderful time of year. The air is finally getting warmer.
The Azaleas are in bloom and so are the brides! There are so many brides
out there planning their weddings and I wish each and every one of
them the best of luck. If we can help in any way, please do let us
know.
There are lots of things going on right now and you will see a
lot of new information in the following pages so please read
on. It will hopefully be of interest to you.
I hope you like the look of our new newsletter format. As the

Personal Note From Donnie
We are pleased to introduce our new venture - Wedding and Event Merchandise! By next week, we will open a
new page on Donnie’s main site for merchandise. The page will eventually feature a variety of products.
To launch this new section, we will begin by
offering custom Belgian Chocolate products. We
have partnered with a fantastic company and are
now able to provide these delicious chocolates
at competitive prices. Each product can be
customized for your specific needs. For example,
as Donnie has said on the show, these make
fun alternatives to traditional menu cards. The
products are available in milk or dark chocolate
and are offered in simple bars or combination
bars (with milk and dark chocolate) - in ½ lb, 1
lb, and 2 lb sizes. Additionally, we will offer
chocolate business cards, golf balls, chocolate
gingerbread cookies, and life size chocolate
champagne bottles.
We also have plans to introduce a few exciting
new products soon. Stay tuned for
more information on that in the
coming months.

Wedding TipsI felt that this month we
should discuss the
downturn in the
economy and it’s
impact on your wedding.
Although we are starting
to see that some of Mr.
Obama’s policies are trying
to begin a recovery, right now
things are still a bit scary. Now, the
economy has actually had no impact
on the numbers of weddings that are
happening in the US. The only area in which
we have seen a change is in the total wedding
budgets, which is understandable under the
circumstances. People are scared to spend
their money, not knowing what will happen in
the near and long term. The problem is that
when Dad hands down the new lower budget
number, the bride is not curtailing her guest
list count or her expectations of the wedding
itself. The important thing to note for those
brides out there who are getting married
is that you can certainly spend less money
on your wedding, but you must also reduce
your expectations of either the size of your
wedding or the value of the wedding or
both. I recently had a bride whose father
reduced her budget from $120K to 60K for
300 people. The important thing to note is
that $120K for 300 people is $400 per head.
The $60K number is only $200
per head. Most hotels will
charge anywhere from $75
to $200 per head for food
and beverage alone. That
leaves absolutely nothing
for the gown, the
invitations, the floral,
the photographer,
the band or DJ or
all the other things
that are critical
components of a
wedding. Another
bride came in and
actually wanted to
charge $175 per head for her
guests to come to her wedding
so she could have the event of
her dreams. I am a wedding
planner, not a concert promoter
and of course, could not help
her. You don’t charge people
to come to your wedding.
Be realistic and make sure
that if you have to revise
your budget, you must also
consider what impact that
must have on your wedding.
