Welcome to BUMC, Kutela Kutembo! Meet him on Sunday, June 7th
We are excited to have Kutela Kutembo visit BUMC
on Sunday, June 7th. Kutela is a new Methodist missionary
who will be working in East Angola. Please come to a lunch
reception in the Friendship Room at 11:00 AM to meet him
and hear his story. Kutela is from the Democratic Republic
of Congo and is being sent to Quessua, Angola to work in
sustainable agriculture. He has a degree in Agriculture from
Africa University in Zimbabwe. He will be commissioned at the
Yellowstone Annual Conference in Helena in recognition of our
strong support of Methodist projects and pastors in Angola.
Bike to Church Sunday is June 21 - take advantage of
our valet bicycle parking and enjoy the fun of riding your
bike! A tip jar will be available with all proceeds going to World
Bicycle Relief, an organization that provides girls across rural
Africa with bikes so they can get to school on time. The bikes
also help healthcare workers reach patients more efficiently
and entrepreneurs get their goods to market. Help mobilize
people through the power of bicycles.
Ken's Truck fund has received over $1400 from BUMC!
Thank you to the WOW Team for contributing $1000 from the
Toy Sale and to Kevin Maston for taking family portraits in
support of this project. Ken Koome is another Methodist
missionary in Quessua, Angola, and he needs a truck to use in
his work of building churches of both "brick and mortar" and
people. The Yellowstone Conference's goal is $6000 and so
far nearly $5000 has been raised. If you would like to contrib-
ute, please do so by May 31 and put "Ken's Truck" or Advance
#00339A in the memo line of your check made to BUMC.
Thank you for your continued generosity to a wide
variety of projects! Over $4700 has been sent to UMCOR for
earthquake relief in Nepal. In early May eleven people made
great progress on a Habitat for Humanity House in Belgrade,
and we have received several boxes of Health Kit supplies.
Your Lenten offerings totaled $721 for Luccock Park and
$1146 for Helen Sheperd in Mongolia, and BUMC teams con-
tinue to support the Community Cafe and Community Showers
at least once a month. Together we can do amazing things.

Frequently Asked Questions About
Stephen Ministry
Why the name Stephen?
The name Stephen comes from St.
Stephen, who was the first lay person
commissioned by the apostles to provide
caring ministry to those in need as recorded in Acts 6.
What’s the Pastor’s Role? Pastors will always be
the primary caregivers, but there is no way a pastor can
meet all needs for everyone. God has called all of us, not
just pastors, to minster to one another. Stephen Ministry
multiplies ministry by enabling lay people to provide
caring ministry as well.
Where did it all start? Stephen Ministry has been
around since 1975, when Kenneth Haugk, a pastor and
clinical psychologist, began it to multiply the caregiving in
his congregation in St. Louis, Missouri. We have had
Stephen Ministry at Bozeman United Methodist Church
for one year, and are one of more than 10,000 Stephen
Ministry congregations from over 150 denominations.
Stephen Ministries St. Louis, the organization behind this
international ministry, is headquartered in Missouri.
Consider Stephen Ministry . . . Please prayerfully consider applying to be a
Stephen Minister. While being a Stephen Minister takes
time and effort, those who have become ministers have
shared stories of spiritual fulfillment and amazing joy.
The skills you learn will help you in everyday relationships
with family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
Please feel free to talk to Tanya, Kim (586-5413)
or any of our trained Stephen Ministers if you have any
questions. Training begins in September 2015,

Thursday Adult Study
Sessions in June. . . Thursday, June 4th at Noon & 6:30 PM
Janice Webstone, a local attorney
in town, is coming to our church to
share her expertise on Estate Planning.
She does this around town (Chris
Remely at Dokken Nelson suggested
her to us) as a community service.
Janice will go over topics such
as Wills vs Revocable Trusts, Benefi-
ciary designations, Durable Powers of
Attorney, Federal Estate Taxes, and
other general topics. Just so you know,
Janice has plenty of her own clients (is
not seeking anymore!), but she really
has a heart for wanting people to have
basic knowledge so they are better
prepared when making their plans and
talking to their own attorneys. This is
a great educational opportunity, with
plenty of time to ask questions.
"Kathmandu Nepal Before
the QUAKE" Sunday June 14th at 9:30 & 11:00 AM
Please join us on Sunday June 14,
for a 40 minute narrated movie by Dale
& Elaine Smith on Kathmandu, following
each of our two worship services down-
stairs in the Friendship Room.
This archival look at Kathmandu,
Bhaktapur and Patan will show what
many world Heritage buildings and sites
looked like before being destroyed by the
recent massive earthquakes. Some may
never be rebuilt. You will also see some
that survived.
(Kathmandu cont.)
People in our church have already
been sending money to UMCOR (United
Methodist Committee on Relief) to help
our neighbors in Nepal, and this presen-
tation by Dale and Elaine who have
been there, will give us a more direct
connection with the area and the people.
Dale says he will provide additional live
commentary after the movie and answer
questions you may have.
More UMCOR contributions to
Nepal can be made at this time and
100% goes to help the people there!*
*(Our United Methodist “One Great
Hour of Sharing” offering taken in March
guarantees that that can happen because it’s
what pays for the year round administrative
staffing costs!)
Helping Hands . . . The women of Mom's Day Out got
together this May to make freezer meals
for their families …and then they also
made dinners for other people who are
helped by our BUMC Nurture Care. Sarah
Lukes says, “Fun was had by all and the
group greatly appreciates those who
watch their children in the nursery and
the church that makes the group possi-
ble!” If you’d like to know more about
Mom’s Day Out, or to join them next time,
contact Ann Dickensheets, 586-5413.

Worship on Sundays at 8:30 or 10:00 AM June 2015; Volume XXIX; Issue 6 www.bozemanumc.org
How many times, as summer comes to an end, have you
asked: "Where did the summer go?" It just slips
away, doesn't it? And then regret comes. So my
hope is that we think ahead. Here are some of the
choices you will make this summer:
1. How much time will you spend outdoors?
2. How many Sundays a month will you be in church?
3. How often will you pray?
4. What TV shows are worth your time?
5. Who do you want to spend time with? Who makes
you rich?
6. What would it take for you to be able to say, in
September, "It's been a great summer"?
So what will you do about it?
