UNCLE WALLY WONDERS
Protestors protesting police brutality are directing their an-ger in the wrong direction. These protestors apparently haveno jobs, since They have lots of time to spend disrupting oth-ers who do. They probably are on welfare. some are probablyfelons. Some are Communists just trying to stir up trouble. For the most part I believe they are in the “taker” group de-scribed below. If they were thinking people they would analyze things thisway:The US government for more than 1/2 a century has beencontrolled by a combination of well meaning “do-gooders”and a group of power hungry politicians who take up the causesof those well meaning people to help them solidify power. So, well meaning people say, “We must help the poor.” Thepoliticians say, “Yes, we must. And we must do it with tons ofmoney we will extract from hard working Americans.” So,they pass legislation that provides programs for the poor, theindigent, the disabled, the elderly, single mothers, orphan chil-dren, ...on and on. Then they tax the hard working Americansto provide funds to effect their legislative agenda. In so do-ing, they create multi-classes of individuals who become de-pendent upon those politicians for their well being. A powerbase of these people, we will here call “takers” soon out num-bers the hard working Americans who pay taxes to the politi-cians (i. e. government), whom we will call here “givers.”Each of those groups vote. The takers vote for those who prom-ise more “well being money.” The givers, now being out num-bered, are not able to stop the juggernaut. Soon, the govern-ment doesn’t have enough money to support all the takers. So, what do they do? They create more taxes. For instance, the government of New York State has estab-lished such high taxes on the sale of cigarettes, that a blackmarket for them has spring up. Individuals go to other stateswhere cigarettes are cheaper, smuggle them into new Yorkand sell them. Once reported, because the power hungry poli-ticians want every penny they can get to solidify their power, they impose an obligation on the police to respond. The po-lice enforce the law, sometimes tragically. However, they wouldnot have been called if the government had not establishedsuch high taxes on cigarettes that New Yorkers have to resortto black market purchasing. Therefore, the protestors “takers” should be angry with thevery politicians they put in office. They and those politicianshave created the situation. The “takers” have become so use to having things given tothem that they feel a sense entitlement. They are entitled towhatever the government can send their way. Some are soimbued with that sense of entitlement that they believe theyare entitled to walk into a convenience store and take what-ever they want. When the police dutifully respond, frequentlya tragedy ensues. Then protestors destroy other peoples prop-erty (you see, they are entitled to do so) and direct anger to-wards the policemen who are simply doing the bidding of theirgovernmental leaders. Those same leaders are responsible forcreating the sense of entitlement “takers” have. Therefore, theprotestors should direct their anger towards the power hungrypoliticians who create the situation in the first place. It is not to say that police brutality does not exist. It shouldnot, in any case. However, the only way the protestors aregoing to achieve their goals is by ridding the country side ofthe progressives who have created all these problems. Thenthey must put in office people who understand the AmericanConstitution and the American dream. Hard work; family re-sponsibility; the rule of law. After all the Constitution doesnot guarantee equality of outcome, simply an equal opportu-nity to achieve your individuals goals.Of course, we must be sensitive to the needs of those peoplenot capable of caring for themselves. But, we have gone waybeyond meeting those needs. The pendulum needs to swingback. Will it. I wonder.
