This letter documents our support of the LEFt' Thermal Power Uprate project described in the subject report. Caldon submitted this topical report to the NRC on March 10, 1997, for approval. We, hereby, respectfully request NRC s prompt review of this report to facilitate our planning for the implementation of this concept that will upgrade TVA's plants to the current technology. We intend to apply for license amendmaents to increase reactor thermal power for our pl~ant~s in accordance with the Caldon Topical Report, if it is approved by the NRC. The LEFN Thermal Power Uprate concept is an important option for utilities seeking ways to improve safety and financial performance. Since installation of the LEFM provides a significant improvement in accuracy and an increase in reliability of flow and temperature measurements, a number of utilities are also interested in NRC's approval of Caldon's Topical Report. The iLmproved accuracy and reliability provided by the LEF'N system, coupled with its on-line verification capability, contributes to safety. 0800319 9704020206 970327 PDR ADOCK 05000259 P PD!!
