ABSTRACTThis report provides information on degree and certificate
programs offered and student program completions for fiscal year 1996-97 inthe 19 public and private postsecondary educational institutions in NorthDakota. The first table lists all programs offered, coded according to theClassification of Instructional Programs (CIP code) system. For each CIPcode, the offering institutions are listed, with the level of program offered(certificate, diploma, associate, bachelor, and/or graduate) indicated. Thesecond table lists, by institution, the number of students completingprograms (by CIP code) . Separate listings are provided for one-year andtwo-year programs, for bachelor's degree programs, and for master's anddoctoral programs. Another table lists the total number of North Dakotaprogram completions by field of study for 1986-87, 1995-96, and 1996-97. (DB)

INTRODUCTION
This report provides information on degree and certificate programs offered and student programcompletions for fiscal year 1996-97 in North Dakota's public and private postsecondary educational
institutions.
Institutional programs are coded in accordance with the Classification of Instructional Programs(CIP Code) system provided by the National Center for Education Statistics branch of the UnitedStates Department of Education. To assist readers, programs have been organized by level ofoffering: certificate, diploma, associate, bachelor, and graduate. Information included was providedby registrars at each institution.
Individuals desiring additional program information about vocational-technical programs shouldcheck the directory published by the State Board for Vocational Education. Students desiringinformation about institutional tuition, fees, room and board rates, and financial aid should contactthe institution's admissions office directly.
DEFINITIONS
Program Completed
A completed program is one in which the individual has met all of the requirements to obtain adegree or certificate in that field of study. This number may vary slightly from other publicationsthat report degrees granted since one person may complete two programs yet receive only onedegree. This publication reports only programs completed.
Education Codes
OP Codes with a "13" prefix indicate a program in education. Individuals looking for educationprograms should look under the "13" code.
