GITHUNGURI PRESBYTERY REPORT TO THE

22ND

GENERAL ASSEMBLY – APRIL 2018

1.0 Preamble

Githunguri Presbytery was inaugurated in 1988, having been accrued from the former

South Kiambu Presbytery. Our presbytery boarders Limuru, Kiamathare and Kambui

Presbyteries.

The Presbytery headquarters are situated at P.C.E.A. Rev. Ayub Kinyua Memorial Church,

Githunguri Parish in Githunguri town just behind Githunguri Township Primary school and

adjacent to the Githunguri Sub-County Government Offices.

It consists of ten parishes. Namely:

Strategic Plan

Our strategic plan is about to be complete.

We have achieved the following goals that were in the strategic plan. Completion of presbytery offices and a multi- purpose hall.

Establishment of church saccos e.g. Gathangari and Riara Ridge and others up

coming.

We are almost about to achieve what were our goals in the strategic plan for that

period.

of the earth

Githunguri Presbytery is committed in the power of the Holy Spirit to worship and serve

God the Father through witnessing Jesus Christ to Humanity.

26.0 Achievements

PCEA Ngamba Church dedication

New congregations at: Kamburu,Githiga, Karuthi and Kahunira Parishes.

The presbytery has acquired a new plot at Ruiru.

Permanent perimeter wall is complete in Githunguri parish.

Land scapping and renovations is complete in Githunguri parish.

Completion of modern washrooms at Mathanja church in Gathangari parish.

PCEA Nathan Kamau in Githiga parish has purchases a plot that will lead to income

generating project.

Matuguta church in Karuthi parish acquired a plot in Nairobi and construction of rentals is

going on.

Kagaa parish purchased a plot in Kitengela.

Kibathithi church in Kagaa parish raised money to start a dispensary.

Bloomhill congregations in Riara parish managed to buy a plot at Kawaida estate for future

development.

Riara ridge parish has acquired a plot in Limuru and plans to construct rentals are

underway.

27.0 Challenges

Unemployment among young people leading to social re-grouping

Church leaders and members joining ‘Mbuzi za chama” uncivilized behaviours

Domestic violence remains a treat, divorce and separations among people.

Challenges of the Kenyan new constitution in the area of devolvement is affecting the

church

Alcoholism and drug abuse

Rural-Urban migration. Young people have left in search of jobs in major cities

High cost of living.

28.0 Future Plans

To make the theme of 21st General Assembly of rebuilding the walls work.

Developing of Ruiru plot.

Aim at achieving our mission and vision in the strategic plan.

Continue to eradicate on alcohol and drugs.

Dedication of PCEEA Nyanjogu Church at Kamburu parish.

29.0 Conclusion

We honour Almighty God our Father who has brought us this far and for His unending love.

We appreciate the unending support given to us by all the kirk sessions, church groups and

members as a whole. This is through the endless support to God’s work spiritually,

physically and economically.

We also do appreciate the support given to us by the General Assembly office in making

our functions colourful and their support towards our presbytery this far.
