CAUSE

This is a known issue caused by the behaviour in pkg(1) which ultimately allowed an incorrect dependency in the hmp

tools pkg as supplied as part of the "Hardware Maintenance Pack" (documented in unpublished bug 15820551) to be

installed.

Ops Center hosts often have the "Hardware Maintenance Pack" installed and this supplies the hmp-tools pkg.

The problem with the hmp-tools 2.2.2 and lower pkg is it has an incorrect dependency:

depend fmri=driver/x11/xsvc type=require

This package, driver/x11/xsvc, is an x86 only pkg:

... so should not be installed on SPARC systems. Due to the old behaviour of pkg(1) that failed to enforce some of the

pkg metadata properties this pkg is incorrectly installed on SPARC machines when the hmp-tools pkg is installed.

This only affects SPARC hosts without SRU10.5 or later installed as the pkg(1) command is updated in SRU10.5 to

enforce these pkg metadata properties correctly and thus prevent situations like this from occurring.

In order to resolve the issue on your current system, you need to uninstall the x86-specific driver/x11/xsvc pkg and th

problematic hmp-tools pkg as follows:

# pkg uninstall management/hmp/hmp-tools driver/x11/xsvc

Once you have removed these pkgs, you will be able to perform your update as expected.

If you require the "Hardward Maintenance Pack" (hmp-tools) installed on your system, then ensure you download and

install version 2.2.3 or later in which this dependency has been corrected.
