5.0 Product Description

5.1 Overview Unisphere Remote is a vApp that enables administrators to remotely monitor the health and capacity of multiple VNX™ and VNXe™ systems. The Unisphere Remote server runs within a VMware virtual environment that includes a vCenter server and at least one ESX/ESXi server. The Unisphere Remote server obtains aggregated status, alert, capacity, and performance information from all systems added to the Unisphere Remote interface. Unisphere Remote uses the VNX domain feature to add VNX systems.

Unisphere Remote enables users to:

• Monitor hundreds of VNX and VNXe systems from a single interface.

If you turn on performance metrics collection, the actual number of systems Unisphere Remote can monitor depends on the size and complexity of your storage configurations.

• View aggregated alerts, system state, metrics storage, disk capacity, storage usage, and performance data for multiple systems.

• Organize logical views of systems based on user-defined tags such as location, type, or department.

• Launch Unisphere in context to manage individual VNX and VNXe systems.

• Cache Cards view to identify and display information on the host cache available in monitored hosts and how it correlates to VNX and VNXe storage.

• Ability to add and delete a connection to an XtremSW Management Center server to get consolidated data about multiple cache cards.

• Ability to launch the XtremSW Management Center GUI to manage cache cards.

• Storage view to identify and display information on the VNX and VNXe storage resources used by hosts.

• VNX storage resource types include file systems, LUNs, and storage pools. VNXe storage resource types include Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare, shared folders, generic iSCSI storage, and storage pools.

• Capacity view to display expanded storage capacity information.

• Performance view to display key performance indicator metrics for monitored storage derived from a centralized database that stores current and long-term performance statistics.

• Additional dashboard views of the space available on systems and pools.
