ques t ion the conven t iona l .I think the most fascinating aspect of Stanford is the openness. Since I am pursing interdisciplinary study, I have to co-work with colleagues out of SUSE. Thanks to low-barrier between schools and departments, now I am working with my colleagues both in and out of SUSE very well. This aspect, openness, made me come to Stanford.Hyemin Han, admitted 2011

Stanford is such an amazing place to learn. I choose to come here because of the quality of teaching, mentoring, peers, resources, and opportunities. The beautiful campus, lovely weather, and gorgeous surrounding Bay Area didn't hurt either.Parissa Jahromi, admitted 2009

My research interests were extremely well aligned with a member of the faculty who I hoped to work with. In retrospect, this was a great indicator that this was the correct program for me. Prior to honing in on an advisor, I had selected Stanford after comparing their work in Learning Sciences and Technology Design to the work of other scholars at my schools of interest. Stanford was the most progressive and innovative on this front. Molly Bullock, admitted 2011
