    PD Dr. habil. Alexander Konyukhov graduated from Kazan State University, faculty

    Mechanics and Mathematics with Diploma degree with honour in Mechanics and Applied

    Mathematics in 1997. He earned his PhD in Physical and Mathematical Science with

    specialization in Solid Mechanics in 1999 from the department of Theoretical Mechanics at

    KSU. The research area is modelling of thermomechanical processes in plates and shells.

    In 2002 he arrived to Institute of Mechanics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany

    with postdoctoral research program via DAAD and later started there as a researcher. He

    continued and developed the research in computational contact mechanics working as a

    group leader supervising Diploma and PhD students.

    In 2010 he achieved the habilitation the highest German academic qualification and

    received his Doctor habilitus and his status as Privatdozent.
