HISTORYTTouriga Nacional sparkling rosé has revealed so much vitality and personality that we decided to honor it with the name Maria do Carmo, Quinta do Gradil’s heiress, who during the 19th century indelibly marked the history of this property and region. Dona Maria do Carmo Romeiro da Fonseca was born in Sanguinhal in 1829 in the bosom of a family intimately connected to the region and to both the production and commercializationcommercialization of wine. At 20 years of age, due to the death of her mother, she inherited Quinta do Gradil, property which she knew how to expand and develop over time. 1854 is now a year of reference on the history of this house as it marks the passage of its name from “Casal” to “Quinta”.
