1. Linda Zaeske suggested that MHDPC ask PSDPC to join us in making a magnificent “Northwest Basket” to be auctioned at the National.  Chapter Clubs have been asked to consider donating baskets as a fundraiser.  Karen Langlois has agreed to construct the basket and make it gorgeous if someone else can bring the components (She is flying) . Donna Kemp volunteered to carry at least part of the contents to the national. We may need someone else who is driving to the National to help transport.

2. Heart Clinic.  The heart clinic filled our approved 20 dog spots. An additional six member dogs are on the waiting list hoping for a spot. Dawn asked the club to consider subsidizing these extra dogs. It was moved, seconded and passed that the MHDPC will subsidize an additional six dogs at the June Health Clinic at a rate of $100.00 per dog.  That raised the cost of the clinic to the club to $2600.00 instead of $2000.00 for just this June 2017 clinic.

3. Deb Hoffner received  a letter asking for a member willing to help judge at a 4H dog event on June 3. 2017. Deb is writing up the information and it will go out to members through the club secretary and/or newsletter.

4. Members discussed having a “Get Together” on May 25, 2017, at the Village Inn Restaurant at Bridgeport to listen to a talk from Dr. Emily Moren on “Emergencies and First Aid for Dogs.”  We are also asking Dr. Moren’s permission to tape her talk and post it in our members only area on our website.  Members will receive an informational email regarding this get together separate from the newsletter.

EVERYONE !Did you miss the deadline this year to let us know how very splendid your dobermanis?? Yes, I know, they are ALL special and outstanding, its true. The newly minted

MHDPC Achievement Recognition program is off to a fine start as you can see and wereally do want this "shout out" to grow.

So start your list now, its only been 5 months. I know many folks featured in previousedtions had brags and I'm sure there are other members out there that we have notheard from, but are doing great things as well. As you can see there is quite a bit of

diversity in the activities folks pursue with their smart, graceful, athletic ( I could go onand on) dobermans. There are so many more events available to participate in and I

have found folks to be friendly and helpful when starting out at something new, plus itsfun. Can you feel it....encouragement! I'm going to start keeping track of what me andmy kids (Jedi and Viggo) accomplish this year so I can make next years deadline...won't

you join me??

I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the work of Kathy Koren and Paula Ratoza inputting this program together.

Thank you for taking this project on and making it happen.

HOLTER MONITOR

Mt. Hood DPC has a Holter Monitor that is available toMHDPC members only for member’s own dogs.

What is a Holter Monitor? A Holter monitor is a mobile EKGmachine that reports a continual EKG for 24 hours. The Holterrecords its results on a tape which is sent off to a service (AlbaMedical for $30.00) who converts the information to a report. The report can be emailed to you and printed out. Dr. KathrynAtkinson is available to read that report for a fee. It can beemailed or faxed to her or you can bring it to the health day

clinic. The test is easy, painless and inexpensive. MHDPC is very

lucky to have it available to us.Our own Licensed Veterinary Technician is available to hookup and remove the monitor and vest. Owner should plan toholter their dog when they are available to monitor the dog for

a full 24 hours.Holter tape kit: $5

Holter report by Alba: $30Recommendations: It is recommended that all Dobermans

over the age of two have annual holter testing. Early detectionof premature ventricular beats can ADD YEARS to the life ofYOUR DOG. Finding this disease in its earliest forms is thekey here. The dog’s birthday month works well by remndingthe owner to do it each year. A clear holter report one yeardoes not release the owner from future testings. These reportscan and do change. With Doberman heart disease we need to

test annually.Contact Dawn Danner, @ [email protected], for holter

availabilityResults are confidential and provided to owner only.
