study what early hominids looked like and how they lived and died. Hominid = “human beings

and human-like ancestors”. How do they study? Physical anthropologists

study fossil remains of hominids. Fossil = “the remains of a

plant or animal of a past age preserved in earth or rock”

Geologists

What do they study? Geologists study what the

earth is made of, how it has changed in the past, and how it is changing now.

How do they study? Geologists study rocks and

other physical features.
