Inductive reasoning: Look for trend or pattern, then generalize.

Deductive reasoning: Take a set of facts. Deduce OTHER facts from those

facts.

Generalization: "All wasps have stingers." The logical conclusion of a specific

instance would then be, "That is a wasp, so it has a stinger." This is a valid

deduction. The truth of the deduction, however, depends on whether the observed insect is, indeed, a wasp.

Pronoun-antecedent agreement

A pronoun is a word which takes the place of a noun or stands in for an unknown noun. The noun

which the pronoun replaces is called its antecedent.

Rule for Pronouns and Antecedents:A pronoun must agree with its antecedent.

Therefore, if the antecedent is plural, use a plural pronoun; if the antecedent is feminine, use a

feminine pronoun, and so on.
