The Compromise of 1850 - 4 Parts:
1.California would enter Union as free-state2.Mexican Cession would be divided into New
Mexico & Utah Territories- Here, voters would then decide the slavery question based on popular sovereignty.
3.Slavery was banned in Washington, D.C – the capitol.
- But Congress had NO power to ban slave trade between slave states.
4.Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 was passed.- Were fined $1,000 dollars if didn’t help.
