Bronwyn Bain: Fresco painting See the technique I studied at ‘Il Laboratorio per Affresco di Vainella under the direction of the Master Leonetto Tintori. On request during open studio hours

Basil Eliades: Learning to see Drawing is not about hand-eye co-ordination. Drawing skill is evidence of a different way of seeing the world. If you think you can’t draw, change your perceptions during this demonstration. Each Sunday at 3 pm

Lawrence Finn: Letterpress printing See how to print on a 1913 Chandler & Price platen. Visitors will also have the opportunity to print on a Kelsey parlor press (very popular for kids to print on). Daily every two hours on the hour.

Dianne Longley:Letterpress stationery demonstration 1–2 November See how vintage blocks and borders are used to create unique printed cards. Crank the press handle and print one to take home!Botanical on-glaze porcelain demonstration 8–9 November See how to create beautiful porcelain plates using vintage Italian and German decals. Welcome to DMROS 2014 and our third

celebration of the Daylesford Macedon Ranges

arts community.

This November thirty artists will open their

studios for the public for six days. This year we

are adding a third weekend to the program to

offer you maximum opportunity to mix, mingle

and discover their work and creative practices.

DMROS honours the contribution artists make

to the community at large. They are constantly

at the forefront of new concepts and ideas, new

ways of thinking and new ways of responding

to political, philosophical, spiritual, social,

humanitarian, scientific, geological, and other

global issues. You only have to read artists’

statements to understand their inspiration and

the level on which many of them ponder the

major issues concerning our world today and

in the future. DMROS offers you a chance to

discuss such things – and anything else you

would like to know about their motivation

and influences.

The effect of artists’ endeavours on our health

and well-being, and in creating the ‘clever

society’ of Former Prime Minister John Howard’s

terms is hard to measure. For that reason a

comprehensive research project is currently

underway in Britain.

i work mainly with acrylic and mixed media, including elements of collage, pastel, charcoal and ink. i like to employ informal tools as well as brushes. My approach is abstract and improvisational. My work explores trans-cultural concepts and draws on a repertoire of appropriated symbols from traditional Asian imagery. i reinterpret them into my own visual stories.

The Chinese works are based on the natural environment. The Japanese works are based on the Edo period tattoo; the figures are trapunto-quilted to create light and shade on the body. i paint with gouache on paper and acrylic on canvas.

i enjoy watercolour for its combination of the deliberate and the fortuitous. You need to be sure of your brush strokes, which are often permanent, while still allowing the pigments to run together. i have recently been working on synthetic paper, which is very slick and non-absorbent. This adds additional levels of difficulty and excitement to my painting experience.

i make relief prints from lino, polystyrene and found objects, printing on canvas and paper. i also sculpt and draw. Sculptures are found objects pieced together or carved wood. Drawings are oil pastel transfers on rice paper, a method i invented in China. Subject matter for all mediums comes from my immediate surroundings, whether i am at home or travelling to family and friends.
