SAP LT Replication Server transfers all metadata table definitions from the non-ABAP source system to the HANA system. From the HANA Studio perspective, non-SAP
source replication works the same as for SAP sources. When a table replication is started, SAP LT Replication Server creates logging tables in the source system. The
read engine is created in the SAP LT Replication Server. The connection the non-SAP source system is established as a database connection.

SAP LT Replication Server offers real-time data replication from ABAP-based and non-ABAP-based systems into SAP NW BW (7.0 onwards).
The data is transferred into Web Service DataSources in the Persistent Staging Area in SAP NW BW and can be processed via SAP BW Real-
time Data Acquisition (RDA) Daemon into DataStore Objects (DSO) or master data tables (MD).

SAP LT Replication Server enhances the established SAP Data Services/ODP scenario (which was implemented for the transfer of source data starting from ECC
systems 6.00) with the full SAP system release coverage (4.6 C onwards). As of SAP Data Services 4.2 SP1, the implemented trigger technology of SLT leverages the
CDC (Change Data Capturing) scenario of SAP Data Services with real-time data provisioning and delta capabilities for all source tables.

ABAP to ABAP Replication
Use Case
You want to transfer data between two ECC systems
Replacement of an batch-oriented option to move data between systems
Fill additional ABAP system beside ECC with real-time data
Solution
The replication between ABAP systems is general available with SAP LT Replication
Server DMIS2011 SP6. The standard SLT license is required to be able to use this
function.

ABAP to ABAP Replication Steps to be executed
To start the replication for a table you have to enter transaction
LTRC and execute the Data Provisioning function.
Specify the table name you want to
replicate, the transfer option and execute it.
Ensure that a target table with the same
name already exist. In the ABAP to
ABAP scenario, SLT will not create the
target table structure automatically.
Take care for the client, if you do not
have the same client in source and
target, specify a transformation rule.

ABAP to ABAP Replication Steps to be executed
You can check the transfer process, the logging tables, triggers and the creation of the
different objects in the Table Overview and Data Transfer Monitor in transaction LTRC.

ABAP to non-ABAP Replication
Use Case
Fill additional non-ABAP system beside ABAP with real-time data
Many customers use solutions developed in-house, legacy, or 3rd party non-ABAP products
and solutions to analyze their business data
You want to use SLT to feed these analytical systems with data in real time, and minimize the
transfer volume by transferring only delta data.
Solution
The replication between from ABAP to non-ABAP systems is not general available with SAP LT Replication
Server DMIS2011 SP07.
The technical foundation is feasible to achieve such a replication, but it is not unrestricted enabled. Wrong data
types could harm the systems, SAP recommend to evaluate in a small project feasibility of your use case and
will activate and enable you for the non-ABAP target replication.
The standard SLT license is required to be able to use this function.
