Smooth Fan Speed Ramp-upHorton’s multi-spring clutch pack and durable friction liners are designed to easily tolerate small amounts of slippage that occur while smoothly ramping up to operating speed. Other fan clutch manufacturers’ cone-shaped friction liners have less tolerance for wear caused by slippage and must engage abruptly to avoid early fan clutch failure. Abrupt engagement can lead to premature damage elsewhere in the fan clutch system.
