“In 2008 I was very excited to announce the launch of David Lloyd Resorts, a brand

new way for people to acquire beautiful holiday homes.

With it I believe that I created a really innovative vehicle through which to expand

property ownership and investment opportunities, and it’s something I’m still convinced

more and more people would be interested in exploring.

But I’ve come to recognise that its sometimes difficult for people to know where to

start, so I have created David Lloyd Holiday Breaks to give potential customers a no-

obligation ‘sneak preview’ of some of the high quality holiday properties available both

in the UK and abroad.

It’s a small but ever-growing collection of holiday homes, offered by a carefully selected

range of prestigious property management companies - organisations that are happy

to explain how a range of flexible ownership arrangements could provide you with a

credible and cost-effective way to acquire a holiday property.

I firmly believe that my Holiday Breaks initiative will be the springboard for you to enjoy

many wonderful holidays in the future.”

About David Lloyd

David Lloyd has had a remarkable sporting and business

career.

In 1982, after a very successful tennis career, he founded

the David Lloyd Leisure Clubs, and after selling the business

to Whitbread in 1995, set up the equally successful Next

Generation Clubs with his son Scott in 1996. David was

also briefly chairman of both Hull City FC and Hull Rugby

League clubs. In 2008 he founded David Lloyd Resorts.

David Lloyd Holiday Breaks gives customers the opportunity to enjoy a diverse

range of beautiful holiday homes at a fraction of the true cost.

But how is that possible?

To understand how we can do this we must first explain more about how

holiday property management organisations operate.

What do holiday property management companies do?

It’s something of a truism – if somebody acquires a holiday home they, their

friends and family are probably only going to use it during certain parts of

the year. Outside of those times the property is left empty, yet it still requires

maintenance and upkeep, and bills still need to be covered.

That’s where property management companies come into the equation.

Property management companies come in many forms – some are employed

directly by the owners of private holiday homes, whilst others work closely

with property development companies, the people who build or run

exclusive holiday resorts with the sole purpose of promoting ownership in its

many forms. The best of these ensure that customers get the maximum benefit from

their holiday property in the most cost-effective fashion.

The contractual arrangements between owners and property management

companies vary, but the latter are usually left with a number of unused ‘non-peak

season’ weeks throughout the year, which they are permitted to re-sell to ensure

their customers’ operational costs are kept to a minimum.

It is these unused weeks that form the basis of David Lloyd Holiday Breaks

programmes, giving our customers the opportunity to enjoy access to a selection of

wonderful properties at extremely attractive prices.

We can offer exclusive access

David Lloyd Holiday Breaks has access to a carefully selected portfolio of

exceptional holiday homes operated by a number of prominent property

management companies – offering an exciting range of holiday homes that are

simply not available to conventional holiday companies.

We offer the perfect way for people to enjoy luxury short breaks and long

weekends away. We lease unused weeks and pass them onto our customers

via a range of holiday plans. It’s a win-win scenario - our customers get access

to fabulous holiday properties (outside of school holidays), and the owners

keep their overheads to a minimum.

In addition the property management companies believe that once you’ve had

a taste of these wonderful holiday properties you may want to know more

about how you can get involved yourself.

We have also made arrangements with a small number of luxury real estate

companies for the same reason, they also want you to experience the

wonderful properties that come into their portfolios – holiday homes they

hope that you might be interested in purchasing outright.

Essentially we try to give potential holiday property owners the opportunity to ‘shop

around’ great properties operated by independent and reputable organisations – and a

chance to enjoy these exclusive properties with absolutely no obligation to buy.

Furthermore as our portfolio of holiday homes grows year on year, you’ll have an ever-

increasing number of exciting properties and locations to choose from.

Wherever and whenever you choose to go, David Lloyd Holiday Breaks is sure to show

you an exciting new way to plan your future holidays.

For five centuries the Clowance Estate was home to one of Cornwall’s most

aristocratic families, and is now one of the most unique holiday destinations

in the UK.

Located between Falmouth and St Ives, Clowance boasts 97 acres of

century manor house and its own private golf course. The grounds boast a

heated swimming pool, gym, beauty treatment suite, bar, live entertainment,

extensive children’s play area.

Situated between Kilkenny and Waterford, the Knocktopher Abbey resort is

surrounded by wild, unspoilt mountain ranges, forest roads, beautiful villages,

harbours, beaches and castles. And of course Ireland never fails to live up to its

world-renowned reputation for hospitality and entertainment.

Set in 17 acres of mature gardens and parkland, Knocktopher Abbey rests on

the site of a Norman castle, the keep of which still stands today. In the 13th

century the original Abbey was home to the first Carmelite order in Ireland,

and the Abbey was rebuilt in a Gothic style in 1850, following a devastating fire.

In 1981 it was painstakingly restored to provide eight spacious self-catering

suites – each with its own unique character.

Set above the estuary of the River Taf and the magnificent Carmarthen Bay,

Laugharne Park offers truly wonderful views, and is a delightful location from

which to enjoy the stunning Carmarthenshire countryside. Benefiting from Gulf

Stream, this part of Wales also enjoys mild winters and an early Spring.

Whatsmore the resort sits directly above the green, shady glades of Milk

Wood, made famous by one of Wales’ most celebrated sons, Dylan Thomas.

Thomas spent much of his later life at Laugharne, once writing: ‘Came one day

for a day, and never left. Got off the bus and forgot to get on again…’

Once an 18th century country house and estate, the Park’s 40 acres have

been thoughtfully developed into a luxury resort with every convenience,

boasting a range of leisure facilities including heated indoor swimming pool,

sauna, whirlpool spa bath, gym, tennis courts, children’s adventure playground,

restaurant, bar and nightly cabaret and entertainment.

Conveniently located just fifteen minutes from the M6 motorway and halfway

between Penrith and Keswick and five minutes from Ullswater, the Whitbarrow

Village resort sits beneath Blencathra Fell and offers both luxury and serenity to

all who visit – as well as easy access to the delights of the Lake District.

The unique character of the 18th century Cumbrian farm known as

Whitbarrow Hall has been retained as the resort has grown to 140 cottages

and apartments. A cobbled, flagged ‘village’ street runs between the converted

natural stone farm buildings, with paths leading off through pretty archways to

quiet and private courtyards.

The resort has many onsite facilities including a full equipped leisure club (with

heated swimming pool, spa baths, sauna, steam room, gym and games room),

bar, restaurant and holistic therapy centre, together with access to a wide

range of activities such as horse riding, archery, fishing, fell walking, quad biking,
