1. Introduction:

This report presents the benchmarking of DL RXQuality Power Control Thresholds trial performed on

Chichawatni City (CWT).

The trial was performed on all the cells of Chichawatni City and the values of DL RXQuality PC were changed

as follows:

2. Purpose of the trial:

The basic purpose of the trial is to enhance the RXQuality of DL samples by triggering the DL power control

a bit earlier through DL RXQuality PC thresholds. This would cause increased power in the DL direction in

case of degraded Quality of samples resulting in increased RXLEV and improved RXQuality.

Normally there are 4 power control regions depending on different values of Level & Quality as shown

below:

This trial changes the power control regions as follows:

PC-1 now covers more area pushing traffic towards good Quality by increasing the power in DL direction. As

a result, PC-1 has greater area while PC-2 has vanished.

3. Benchmarking

3.1 RMS Data:

3.1.1 Downlink RxQuality Distribution:

As expected, significant improvement has been observed in DL RxQuality Distribution and most

of the samples are now having “0” RxQuality

Slight improvement is observed in the DL RXQUALITY of post trial drive test.

3.2.2.1 Percentage Improvement in SQI:

Significant improvement has been observed in the SQI of post trial drive test samples. Major improvement

is observed due to the fact that most of the traffic is on FR in post trial drive test.

3.3 QoS Evaluation:

3.3.1 Mod DCR:

Mod DCR of Chichawatni is stable after the WO implementation. It later got degraded due to hardware

issues on CWT8392B & CWT8392A.

Mod CSSR of the city is also stable.

HSR trend is stable with slight degradation due to hardware issues on CWT8392B & CWT8392A.

3.3.4 Handover Distribution:

• Better Cell Handovers

Better Cell handovers have increased slightly. The numbers increased significantly when DCS TRXs of cell

CWT0873A got down causing high number of handover between CWT0873A & front neighbor CWT3851F

• Multiband Handovers

• CWT3851F – Better Condition HOs:

Better Condition HOs increased in numbers and rate when front neighbor’s (CWT0873A) DCS TRXs went

down. When those TRXs got operational, better condition HO numbers returned to normal values but rate

remained improved due to the fact that frequency clash between CWT0873A & CWT3851F was removed

during this period and as a result, Better condition HO rate enhanced while Emergency HO rates reduced.

• Quality Handovers

Quality Handovers are stable.

• Interference Handovers

Interference HOs are also stable. High peaks observed for few days due to hardware issues on various cells.

4. Summary

After The Trial and its benchmarking we can conclude the following:

• Highest sample window shifted to better levels with better average quality of DL samples

• Slight improvement observed in the RxQuality of post trial drive test

• KPIs are stable after the WO implementation

• Better cell handovers have slightly increased

• Quality HOs are stable

• Interference HOs are also stable
