Preparations for Anand’s Amul dairy poll under way
Bhaskar News| Anand: Board of Directors of Amul dairy, Asia’s largest cooperative milk
producers’ society, will complete their tenure on July 31, 2020.
Preparations for the upcoming elections for the new board of directors have begun in the 1,200
milk cooperative societies of Amul dairy. The elections for Amul are likely to be scheduled in
second or third week of August. Due to this, politics in cooperative sector is gaining momentum
at village level.
Amul dairy elections is all about a battle between BJP and Congress-led panel. This time the
village dairy cooperatives are planning to field their own candidate from their panel Bhartiya
Kisan Union (A). For appointment of Amul’s board of directors, the right to vote is allotted to a
milk producer from each milk cooperative society unanimously decided by all members.
Preparation of the voter list in milk societies are under way.
Registrar of Anand district A.P. Asari said that Amul dairy suggested a list of representatives
from all milk societies in the district registrar’s office but due to incomplete information, Amul
has been asked to provide complete information. After all information is collected, a report has
to be sent to the collector.
Meetings are being organised in the 1,200 milk societies to decide on the representatives’ names.
