The Epiphany of the Lord
Matthew 2:1-12
January 3, 2021
Epiphany (epiph·a·ny | \ i-ˈpi-fə-nē \ ) noun
(1): a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something;
(2): an intuitive grasp of reality through something (such as an event) usually simple and striking; (3): an
illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure; b: a revealing scene or moment
On the heals of celebrating the birth of our Savior, we reflect now on the revelation (theophany) of God
incarnate as Jesus, the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child, and Jesus' physical manifestation to the
world. The end of Advent, a grasp by our Divine Mercy Community for the need to celebrate the Holy
Birth of our Lord, amid the Covid Pandemic resulted in an observance of the Nativity of our Lord as a
simple but striking Christmas Mass.
We would not want to miss an opportunity to send our heart felt love and gratitude to everyone that
made the Christmas Mass not only possible, but absolutely beautiful! The skills, thoughtful innovation
and implementation of our faithful’s God given talents made our Christmas Celebration very special.
May God Bless you, every one!

THE CHURCH IS OPEN FOR PERSONAL VISITS AND
PRAYER- TUESDAYS THROUGH FRIDAYS FROM 9AM
TO 2:30PM. WE ASK THAT YOU SANITIZE THE PEW
WHERE YOU WERE SITTING BEFORE LEAVING.
Dear Divine Mercy Parishioners:
As we look back on 2020, the change that one
would find inherent as you welcomed me as
your new Priest in July, cannot be overstated.
That’s a really big adjustment, and you didn’t
miss a beat in managing it! I feel certain that
the warm welcome and love you showed for
me as I began my new role in this office will
continue to flow in 2021, and together we will
continue our climb to heaven.
What beautiful gifts does God have in store for us in this New Year? What
challenges and inconveniences will we still have to weather due to the
pandemic? He is our loving Father, and the greatest gift has already been
given to us, His son, our Lord Jesus Christ. And no matter what is coming
our way, we can continue in confidence say, “Jesus, I trust in you!” Then
we take it from there.
I am reminded of Matthew 13:23, “But the seed sown on rich soil is the one
who hears the word and understands it, who in deed bears fruit and yields
a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.” DMCC family, you are the seeds sown on
the rich soil, and have born great fruit…let’s look back on what we have
accomplished together, in just six months….
Were we in or out? We still ask
that question. The doors to our
Church seem to have become
revolving doors. One thing is
certain, everyone is following
the safety protocols, wearing
their masks, keeping their
hands clean, filling out the dec-
larations and practicing safe
distance. In all of the moving
about, you have been flexible,
helpful and especially compliant
to safety protocols. I cannot
thank you enough for your co-
operation. You clearly demon-
strate care and love for one
another, that as Christians we should. We are after all, our brother’s keep-
er. Thank you for being flexible.
In July and August we celebrated First Holy Communion and Confirmation
with CFF. We re-started RCIA I and II. CFF classes began again, virtual-
ly. Many of the ministries became active again in the last half of the year.
Much of it had to be done through Zoom. BUT YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!
We wished DMCC’s long- time volunteer business manager, Frank Cuzzo
a happy retirement in August. Generally speaking it takes a while to ac-
commodate a vacancy such as this but as a faithful community, more vol-
unteers stepped up to facilitate many of our business “missions.” We had
to start a campaign to acquire the funds for the motion alerts and security
devices to monitor the security of our campus. Your generosity not only
paid for the cameras, but there was enough left over to start a new general
fund for grounds/campus maintenance. I am thankful to each of you for
your donations. I am grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their gener-
ous donations that fixed the sprinkler system! We published the Annual
Report to the Faithful in September, and we had a Parish Work Day in
October. Our volunteers stayed after Mass to clean and make necessary
repairs to our church and campus. Many came early during the previous
week and continued their work long after the event.
So many of you became involved, I am bound to miss someone if I try to
thank each of you individually. But please know that I am grateful for each
of you. You didn’t fail in your Stewardship Missions, and had a successful
although tempered due to the pandemic, Stewardship drive in November.
You all continuously demon-
strate your desire to find God in
everything, and you support the
“least of these” as our Lord talks
about in Matthew 25:31–46, by
your support of the Angels of
Mercy food drives, financial giv-
ing at Thanksgiving and support
of the children who needed a
Christmas surprise sponsored
through the Angel’s Giving Tree.
By the looks of the stacks of
coats and blankets in the Nar-
thex, the Squires were success-
ful in spreading the warmth of
the Lord’s love to those who are
cold.
Finally, some of the greatest love of all has been shown by all of those who
make it possible to celebrate our Holy Mass, whether it’s going to be inside
or out. Of course Sacristans, Security and Ushers, sound and video, You
Tube support, Altar support…these are only a few that we recognize, and I
don’t want to be remiss in failing to mention anyone…but please know this,
all of you are known as Christians by your love. Thank you everyone, for
sharing it.
Yours in Christ,
Father Eric
