◎ Encourages under-represented groups to participate

◎ Provides a healthy space for criticism of the work product (not the people)

◎ Pathway for newbies to contribute in ways that interest them (code, UX, PM, tech writer, etc.)

Things you can do to help

◎ Create step by step tutorials and direct newcomers to relevant but easy tasks

◎ Share the word on events and opportunity

◎ Encourage to attend conferences and meetups
