What is D.O.?
• An opportunity to connect the classroom to the workplace and begin gaining experience in your career field.
• Combines a seminar class with actual on-the-job paid work experience.
• Provides a specific training plan so that experience is gained in many aspects of the business
Program Specifics
• Each participant will receive assistance in finding an appropriate job site related to his/her career field.
• A specific training plan and training agreement will be designed for each student and will address parent, employer, school, and student responsibilities.
• School coordinator will make weekly visits to the job site to facilitate successful performance and address workplace issues.
• Employer trainer will provide student evaluations rating job performance—very helpful at future interviews
• Student receives credit for successful completion of the program
• Transition assistance is provided for future education and/or employment
Qualifications
• Complete the required application form
• Provide 2 written letters of recommendation from faculty members
• GPA of 2.0 or better and maintain passing grades in all classes
• Individual transportation to work site
• Signatures on final training documents
