Amongst all the fast food venues in Bir-

mingham which one would you rate highly and why? In such a big city with thousands

of cool and fancy places to eat which eatery should be worthy of your loyalty? From Broad

street to Soho road the wide range of food is so vast and tempting, even if your not hungry…

or is that just me! I am a student and have been living here for 4 months now of which (to me)

there is one place that I will go back to, when some spare change; Urban Pie. Even though I have noticed everywhere I go this city is filled

the famous Subway restaurant/takeaway joint so I am guessing it is a popular place for the

residents of Birmingham to eat? Which is of course, very cultural…

Its such a hard decision to go out and try to choose from which genre of food to go for

but for me as a student I’d go for the cheapest which is Urban Pie, and the closest for me, very convenient I know. Most of the cheapest places to eat are in the center of Birmingham, which is always useful when going for a nice shop in the

Bullring. Its about £4 for the whole single meal in-

cluding gravy and the sides, nice piping hot juicy on the

inside and lush pastry

out-side. The whole experience itself is warming and welcom-ing, as you come in to the cute till area there are drinks cooled to the left and the endless amount of pies are neatly arranged next to each other ready for you to devour.

Personally I haven’t been into many of the restaurants here yet however the reviews are all positive. With a rating of 10.0 for food, service, atmosphere and value this is still only a small venue. “magnificent food, great staff, great décor and great price” is one of the many fantastic things said about this place. With the nice rounded arches leading you into the seat-ing area as if you are royalty with a waiter so you don’t have to lift a finger. Rounded up to a standard £20 for a mouth watering 3 course meal I think this is a night you’d want to starve yourself for beforehand! Useful party book-ings available for big occasions, which include a discount I believe it this could give Urban Pie more competition with all these discounts!

Well, to be honest what would you like to do? Urban pie and Shabab both are fantastic in all the ways we imagine so why choose!? Unless you have a tight budget –likewise- either one would have great food served with a friend-ly smile.

Birmingham; Big name, Big city. Diverse options exist in the art culture of it as well. But what do I mean when I say diverse? Different types of art of course, different exhibitions, non-exhibitions

and art activities. Different matters, evolving around art.

Being one of Europe’s leading contemporary art galleries, Ikon Gallery hosts some of the most in-novative exhibitions in the UK. But it is not only the exhibitions which are exciting, the building it self holds a history behind. Ikon Gallery used to be a former Victorian school. That school was later established as the Ikon Gallery and the award-winning glass conversion was made and it created a combination of old and new which not only looks diverse but it is unique and beautiful.

The atmosphere of the gallery changes from ex-hibition to exhibition as each artist is allowed to form the gallery the way he wants. It is amazing how inspirational it can be sometimes. It depends though on what the viewer likes. Feelings of each individual may vary between exhibitions. The whole gallery is re-formed depending on the art-ist’s style and the exhibition’s mood. The colors, the walls, the paintings, everything is altered.

The Ikon Gallery helps the viewer interact with the artist, using technology and each artist can choose something to keep the visitors occupied and be able to explore the subject.

Besides offering some the most intellectual and contemporary exhibitions in the UK, Ikon Gallery has the only specialized art’s books bookshop in Birmingham.

Ikon’s marketing department, has provided an events room to host presentations and small seminars. Art lovers can not only see art, they can learn art as well. Besides seminars Ikon offers workshops and creative activities to challenge and inspire all aged art lovers.

If you are looking for an alternative choice, a dif-ferent approach to art, city’s lights and colors will definitely seduce you. Walking around the city and exploring it closely you will find, some amaz-ing pieces of art. Digbeth is a place that one can say, art has embraced it. It is amazing how roads, walls, abandoned buildings, seem so alive. There you will find the classic spray-on-walls graffitis but it does not stop there.

From the simplest type of graffiti like tags which is simply something writ-ten on a basic color, to stencils, to stickers on old wooden doors and you can even find pieces, proper paintings on the walls of the city.

Some wonderful pieces can be found along the renewed side of New Street station. It is stunningly amazing how art can be diverse and different from place to place and time to time.It is surely worth your time if you love art to wonder around the streets and have a look. These artworks are not there for nothing.

For the guarantee of a night with a huge range of things to do you don’t need to look any fur-ther than Broad street, the cen-tral hub of Birmingham’s night

scene. From stand up comedy to club nights there is no shortage of things to see and places to go, if you are looking for a social night of music and dancing or just a chilled drink at a bar broad street has you sorted. The street itself plays host to the biggest clubs in Birmingham with live artists and huge crowds.

Gatecrasher is one of these huge clubs, although honestly clubs really don’t get much bigger than this huge super-club. With 3 floors 4 rooms of music and a futuristic lighting system this club is ideal for those who want an epic night out. Each room of this club is devoted to a different music genre with a room for the biggest rnb tunes, a room for your favorite pop songs and a room for the deepest dubstep and drum n bass with guest djs such as the up and coming dj duo seedy sonics. The club itself is a nothing short of a technical beast with a dynamic laser system, a massive speaker system and even fog machines spraying into the crowds in time with the beats. This club is not one to miss for any out-going student in Birmingham, especially those familiar with London super clubs such as fabric or matter.

On the other end of the street you will find more specialized clubs like Bliss which hosts the UK’s number 1 RnB night. Stylishly decorated with 4 bars spaced over 2 floors the club has been

used for a variety of occasions ranging from fashion shows to award ceremonies. Don’t let the secretive exterior of the building fool you just trust in the tunes you hear coming from the inside and all the people you will see outside its door eager to enter. Always heaving and boast-ing an impressive range of student nights this chic club is one location that you have to visit if you’re touring the best nights in Birmingham.

On the other hand if you aren’t looking for a loud night out at a huge venue broad street still has you covered with small stylish bars such as o bar offering a small intimate bar with cheap drinks, better deals and a good vibe. Situated next to the always busy Walkabout this dark bar offers a great variety of drinks well crafted by a talented bar staff, and a more alternative selection of music from the resident dj’s.

Then again if you are just looking for a good vibe a nice meal and a cold pint you need not worry as Broad street’s walka-bout has you covered. Situated right next to the already mentioned O bar this walka-bout has a great selection of burgers and Australian food, the venue itself becoming a night club in the evening with a dj play-ing the best cheesy tunes you know are your guilty pleasure.
