POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Cultural Secretary, Student Council, IIT Ropar. Convener of Institutes Cultural Festival, Zeitgeist 2013. Student Head of the Security Team of Institutes Cultural Festival, Zeitgeist 2011. Treasurer of SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS, IIT Ropar, 2012-2013. Board member of SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS, IIT Ropar, 2011-2012.
PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN:
B. Tech Project (August 2013- April 2013)
Development of Novel Bio-Compatible Lubricants Additives Using Ionic Liquids and Nanoparticles for
Enhanching its Wear-resistant Properties.
Supervisor: Dr. Harpreet Singh (Head of Department, SMMEE, IIT Ropar),
Dr. Narinder Singh (Head of Department, Chemistry Department, IIT Ropar)
The objective of this project was to develop a novel bio-compatible lubricants additives for various
wear applications. The project involved the integration of mechanical and chemical engineering. Due
to good tribological properties, strong boundary film formation capabilities and good bio-
compatibility, ionic liquids based additives were the preferred choice. The different ionic liquid basedligands were decorated with different nano-particles and tested for their tribological and chemical
properties. Wear mechanisms in each case was studied and additives were modified to decrease
specific type of wear mechanisms.
Summer Internship (May 2013- July 2013, DCM Engineering Ltd, Ropar)
Study and Prevention of Shrinkage Defects in Metal Casting Operations using simulation
Supervisor: Er. Rohit Raj (Assistant Engineer, Design Department, DCM Engineering Ltd.)
The objective of this project was to develop a new casting mould for sand casting of Cylinder Head
and Cylinder Block of IC engine of Avtec Ltd. The previous design was causing a lot of shrinkage
defects in the Cylinder Head and Block. The causes shrinkage defects in old design were studied
using MAGMA5 simulation software some modifications were suggested. Based on these suggestions
new simulation model was designed which reduced shrinkage defects almost by 30%. During Trial
run the earlier rejection rate of 10% was reduced to 4%.

Neem Seed Depulper and Cracker
Supervisor: Dr. Harpreet Singh (Head of Department, SMMEE, IIT Ropar)
The main objective of the project was to design a user friendly, cheap and robust neem seed depulper
and cracker to obtain the inner most part of neem seed which is basically used for medicine, biofuel
and fertilizer purposes. The project was in association with Rural Technology Action Group
(RuTAG), IIT Ropar and Punjab State Council for Science & Technology,
