and championing free trade.

trade and investment, and help businesses succeed
• delivering a new trade policy framework for the UK as we leave the EU

APPROACH
1.Continue to develop relationships with existing major foreign space and satellite companies
already based in the UK to encourage them to deepen their presence in the UK.
2.Identify those global companies without a UK presence that could match future growth
opportunities and develop relationships through Post to encourage them to invest.
3.Identify countries with potential as sources of space investment, but where we are not
working strategically on space FDI and invest resources to help develop relationships and thus
a pipeline.
4.Develop market-specific marketing and event plans to support our FDI efforts.

Business Environment Advisory Team
BEAT team
We support the network to land FDI Projects in three ways:
• advising investors on the UK business environment including tax, finance, banking, research and development (R&D), visas and skills
• training for DIT staff to help them pitch the UK’s business environment to investors as attractive and internationally competitive
• shaping OGD policies that affect businesses, using direct investor feedback, to ensure the UK business environment remains internationally
competitive.
In 2016/17, the team received over 1,413 referrals and helped land 261 projects into the UK.
