Poem in your Pocket Day

Every April, on Poem in Your Pocket

Day, people celebrate by selecting a poem,

carrying it with them, and sharing it with

others throughout the day.

Poem in Your Pocket Day 2016

is April 21st. Here is one to try if you don’t

already have one:

All that is gold does not glitter,

Not all those who wander are lost;

The old that is strong does not wither,

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,

A light from the shadows shall spring;

Renewed shall be blade that was broken,

The crownless again shall be king.

By J. R. R. Tolkien

The Steel Kiss by Jeffery Deaver

" New York Times best selling author Jeffery Deaver

returns with his next blockbuster thriller featuring forensic

detective Lincoln Rhyme. Amelia Sachs is hot on the trail

of a killer. She's chasing him through a department store in

Brooklyn when an escalator malfunctions. The stairs give

way, with one man horribly mangled by the gears. Sachs

is forced to let her quarry escape as she jumps in to try to

help save the victim. She and

famed forensic detective Lin-

coln Rhyme soon learn, howev-

er, that the incident may not be

an accident at all, but the first in

a series of intentional attacks.

They find themselves up

against one of their most

formidable opponents ever: a

brilliant killer who turns com-

mon products into murder

weapons. As the body count

threatens to grow, Sachs and

Rhyme must race against the

clock to unmask his identity--

and discover his mission--before more people die. "

This book is available in the adult fiction section at both the

Aurora Public Library and the Dillsboro Public Library.

The Next Indiana Bookshelf There is a food renaissance taking place in

Indiana. It’s happening in urban gardens and on

large-scale farms; in laboratories and in food pantries’

in up-scale restaurants and in food trucks.

In 2010, Indiana Humanities began a two-year

program designed to help Hoosiers think, read and talk

about food. Food for Thought led to the publication of

this collection of 80 stories gathered from around the

state. Drawn from rural farm fields and urban dining

rooms, from high-tech labs and low-tech eateries,

these portraits offer both the familiar and the

surprising.

Selected to be included

on the Next Indiana Bookshelf

during 2016, this book invites

you to pull up to the table and

discuss the role of agriculture in

Indiana.

TIP—Know when to stop.

If your child loses interest or has trouble

paying attention, just put the book away

for a while.

Don't continue reading if

your child is not enjoying it.

You can always try again

later or find a different book

that might grab their

attention...such as a real

picture animal book.

Take Flight With Books Storytime

Books can let your imagination soar! Books can also help light your path to

knowledge. That’s why the Indiana State

Library has a very special reading list for

preschoolers. These “Firefly” books were

chosen to especially promote early literacy

skills. Miss Peggy will be sharing these books

Paint Your World Purple My name is Patty Tibbs and I have

been Relaying for 15 years because my

mother passed away from cancer when I

was 14 years old. I started with a team for

the

Aurora Public Library District and then

decided I needed to do more so I volunteer

on the planning committee in Luminary

Sales. Relay for Life is very important to me

as I would one day love to see a cure for

cancer.

Please join me and others in this year’s Relay For Life.
