• Production-class grid infrastructure– Basic infrastructure consists of local Linux clusters with 64-bit

architecture connected by the Polish Optical Network PIONIER– Development of mechanisms and tools capable of management

of a distributed cluster with dynamically changing configuration

– Dynamic attachement of new local clusters with 32- and 64-bit architectures

– Taking into consideration local policies of administration within independent domains

• Development of grid middleware:– Data management – Resource management system with prediction, monitoring – Management of user accounts and virtual organizations– Network management, IPv6– Integrated end-user/administrator interface – Checkpointing

• Examples of applications:– Modeling transonic flows and design of advanced tip devices– FEM modeling of castings solidification– Prediction of protein structures and simulation of protein folding– Investigation of properties of bio-molecular systems for drug

design– Large-scale simulations of blood circulation in micro-capillaries – Astrophysical simulations
