GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION: Sale will be held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle CA1 2RS. Leave M6 motorway at junction 43 and follow Carlisle signs. The market is on the left hand side of the road within ¼ mile of M6.

CONDITIONS OF SALE: Held under Dispersal Sale rules, where by no warranties of any sort are implied or given.

METHOD OF SALE: All stock will be sold in £’s (pounds) sterling and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers.

SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK: Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of Sale. No animal may leave the sale premises without an official ‘Pass Slip’, obtainable from the Auctioneers upon settlement.

CATALOGUE

We welcome you all to Borderway Mart for the dispersal of our Leesemanor pedigree, pure-bred and British Blue cross Limousin breeding herd.

We have had a lifetime of cattle breeding. Firstly British Friesian, the Holstein Friesian and then in the late 1980s on the advice of the legendary cattle breeder, the late Denis Lomas, my uncle we bought our first pedigree Limousin and British Blue cattle.

We started showing and won numerous championships at local and county shows. These included many inter-breed calf champions shown by our son, James, and daughter, Katie.

We sold breeding cattle the length and breadth of the UK, including Northern Ireland, on the back of these winnings. What pleased us greatly was people returning for repeat sales.

We started crossing British Blue and Limousin some 25 years ago. We then sold potential show cattle, mainly at Chelford British Blue Society Sales, and then at Beeston Castle Market, where many prizes and good prices were achieved.

More recently we have sold our potential show cattle at the March and September suckled calf sales at Borderway Mart, Carlisle achieving many prizes and excellent prices. We were proud to win Reserve Champion at the September 2019 suckled calf show.

All heifers not sold as suckled calves are bred for replacements, the surplus sold with calf at foot. All bulls not sold for breeding are fattened and sold to ABP and consistently kill out well, and grade in the E grade.

Health status• From a TB1 testing area. TB free, never had a case of TB • BVD Free Test Negative status, tag tested negative for over two years• Calves vaccinated for salmonella• Johnne’s disease - not aware of any cases• Calves have had clostridial vaccine• Farm Assured NSF No. 128929

We have decided the time has come to take life a little easier and retire. We thank you all for your support coming to our sale, and good luck to all successful purchasers.

His sire, the homebred Leesemanor James sired wonderful cattle again, being easily born. He has daughters in the sale and bulls have sold to ABP killed out extremely well. 95% being graded E.2. His grand sire is the French bull Chaumeil, that bred excellent cattle at Leesemanor. He also has daughters in the sale.
