Interns will support the team by assisting with the development of:

• Promotions and special offers

• Processing and mailing group and season ticket orders for professional events

• Developing and implementing control processes for supporting remote sales and off-site venues

• Acting as Managers/Ticket Specialists for the entire Box Office

• Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Box Office: includes providing banks for the Box Office staff at the windows

• Responsible for registration for all on-site and off-site sporting events that come to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

The Facility Operations team monitors the total operation of the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex by working closely with all business units. This area is responsible for three departments:

• Guest Operations which includes; ushers, turnstiles, parking, duty manager, event registration

• Custodial Operations which maintains the cleanliness of all facilities within the Sports Complex

• Changeover/Logistics which manages the set up, monitoring, and strike of all events

• Key events the intern is involved with include: AAU Basketball/Volleyball, Pop Warner Super Bowl, Atlanta Braves Spring Training, Walt Disney World Marathon, and the Old Spice Classic

The intern will observe and participate in the day-to-day operations of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, learning how each discipline partners for best results, how problem solving is handled, and how the Sports team provides the highest quality of guest service. The intern will become familiar with our business practices and diversity strategies while working directly with the Sports Complex Special Events Team. The intern must demonstrate schedule flexibility as our business involves weekends and evenings as well as normal operation. The following disciplines will be covered during the internship:

• General knowledge of all operating areas at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to include initial hands on training in guest operations, custodial, changeover, and logistics

• Coordinate with Complex partners to maintain and improve various areas of the Complex

• Actively involved with major third party clients including the Atlanta Braves

• Plan and execute Opening Ceremonies and Graduations

• Plan and execute team buildings and functions with Epcot Events

• Coordinate with Youth Markets, assisting with event execution

The interns will learn the financial systems and analysis used by Disney Sports to determine the viability of specific events for ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The interns will become integrated into the event selection process from the prospect stage through contract. These roles will be involved primarily in special projects with some responsibility for routine financial reporting.

Responsibilities include:

• Determining the financial results of major sporting events on property

• Analyzing the incremental strategic value to Walt Disney World® driven by the events, including creating post event P&Ls

• Developing business cases and pro forma’s for new business opportunities at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and presenting the recommendations to Executive Leadership

• Development of financial modeling spreadsheets and financial report generation

• Development of monthly forecasts for responsible lines of business

• Presentations to management and partners on financial business results

Disney Sports Attractions is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and creative individual. Although this is a sports-based internship, you do not have to be interested in sports to work here. Ideal candidates will have a passion for design and an enthusiasm for marketing. This is a highly competitive opportunity that will allow the chosen candidate to work on high-level projects for some of the most respected brands in the world including ESPN, the Walt Disney Company, and many others. Your work will reach a wide variety of audiences in the United States and abroad. You’ll work directly with our marketing team to create and develop plans for some of our well-known events including Atlanta Braves Spring Training, Disney Soccer, Old Spice Classic, runDisney events, and much more. There are many aspects to the role including:

• Designing new creative for campaigns as well as repurposing or updating past creative. This can include print ads, signage, web and social media graphics, logo design, logo repurposing, resizing elements, preparing files for print, some light digital retouching/photo manipulation based on skill level

• Working on co-branded creative for external partners such as OfficeMax, Old Spice, etc.

• Organizing and cataloging the Marketing Photo Library. You will be responsible for capturing that data from our photographers and organizing it for our online archive

• Ensuring that all brand standards are met for each project and assignment

• Working with online registration providers to create registration templates, monitor event participant or team registration and insure proper collection of fees

• Processing of deferrals, refunds and transfers through the Endurance line of business

The intern will have an active role in the day-to-day operation of the sports public relations department where he/she will be given the opportunity to take a hands-on approach to practicing sports public relations on a local and national scale. The intern will have the opportunity to observe, learn and participate in the development and execution of sports public relations initiatives involving national, regional, local and niche sports publications and outlets, as well as serve in sports information roles

The interns will develop public relations plans, serve as public relations project manager on various events and learn the strategic thinking required to successfully promote youth and professional sports events and athletes. The intern will actively participate in the development and execution of public relations tactics related to events, initiatives and news announcements by assisting in the following areas:

• Develop and/or support public relations plans for many of the more than 300 youth/professional sporting events (e.g. Atlanta Braves Spring Training, runDisney races, Old Spice Classic, Pro Soccer Classic, ESPN College Football Awards, AAU National Basketball Championship, Pop Warner Super Bowl, etc.) at Disney

• Identify and pitch stories to media that deliver the key messages of the Disney Sports brand

• Compose and produce content (e.g. videos, photos, tweets) for Disney Sports social media platforms

Disney Created Portfolio: interns will be involved in the creation, planning, sales, marketing, and execution of “Disney Created Events”. Disney Created Events are events that are owned and executed by the Disney Sports Team. All Sales and Marketing aspects are handled in-house for these events, and this team’s primary role is to identify, recruit, and work with the teams and athletes prior to arrival, during the event, and post event.interns will work directly on a diverse portfolio of sports consisting of Soccer, Baseball, Fastpitch Softball, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Track & Field, Cross Country, Golf, Tennis and Rugby. The Disney Created Sales team manages over 20+ events that are offered for youth, high school and college athletes at all skill and division levels. They will interface with Facility Management and other Walt Disney World® departments to insure that all requirements of the event are met.

The Volunteer Services & Community Outreach Team supports more than 25 events and fills more than 19,000 volunteer shifts annually. interns will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of volunteer management. interns will gain an understanding of the event planning processes including pre-event logistics, on-site volunteer operational s support, and post-event responsibilities. Additionally, they will coordinate community outreach experiences for teams participating in sports events. The interns are mentored by our Volunteer Services Managers.

The interns will actively participate in decision-making and event delivery by assisting in the following areas:

• Marketing and recruitment efforts for volunteer

• Understanding of volunteer database, scheduling systems and reporting functions

• High degree of interaction with volunteers requiring excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Event planning and logistics in partnership with the Event Management Team in support of volunteer operation

• Preparing training materials, scheduling and facilitating training sessions

• Providing on-site support during events in the areas of volunteer management and event delivery
