    .DetergentDetergent

You can use tablets as well as powderor liquid detergents for dishwashers, but

never use washing up liquid. The dosage can be individually adjustedwith powder or a liquid detergentaccording to the degree of soiling.Tablets contain an adequately largeamount of active ingredientsfor all cleaning tasks. Modern, powerfuldetergents predominantly use a low-alkaline formulation with phosphateand enzymes. Phosphates bondthe lime in the water. Enzymes break

down starch and remove protein.Phosphate-free detergents are lessfrequent. These have a slightly weakerlime bonding capacity and requirea higher dosage. To remove colouredstains (e.g. tea, tomato sauce), oxygen-based bleaching agents are usuallyused.

    Note

To ensure a good washing result, always follow the instructionson the detergent packaging! If you have further questions,we recommend that you contactthe detergent manufacturers helpline.

m Warning Read and observe thesafety information and instructions foruse on the packaging for cleaning andrinsing agents.

    Adding detergent

    1. If the detergent dispenser 9"is stillclosed, press the lock 9*to openthe detergent dispenser.

Pour detergent into the dry detergentdispenser 9"only (insert tablet flat, not on its edge).Dosage: see manufacturersinstructions on the packaging. The graduated detergentdispenser 9"helps you add thecorrect amount of powder or liquiddetergent.Usually 20 ml25 ml are adequatefor normal soiling. If using tablets, one tablet is adequate.

    2. Close the cover on the detergentdispenser by sliding it up until thelock engages without difficulty.

The detergent dispenser opensautomatically at the optimum timedepending on the programme. The powder or liquid detergentis distributed in the appliance and isdissolved, the tablet falls into

the tablet collecting tray where itdissolves in doses.

    Tip

If the utensils are only lightly soiled, slightly less than the indicated amountof detergent is usually adequate.

    Suitable detergents and care products

can be purchased onlinevia our website or via customer service(see back page).

    Combination detergent

Apart from conventional detergents(Solo), a number of products are offeredwith additional functions. Theseproducts contain not only the detergentbut also rinse-aid and salt replacementsubstances (3in1) and, dependingon the combination (4in1, 5in1, etc.),additional components such as glassprotection or stainless steel cleaner.Combination detergents function onlyup to a specific degree of hardness(usually 21dH). Over this limit saltand rinse-aid must be added.

    As soon as combined detergents

are used, the rinse programmeis adjusted automatically to ensurethe best possible rinsing and dryingresult.

m Warning Do notplace small partsfor washing in the tablet collecting tray12; this prevents the tablet fromdissolving evenly.

m Warning If you want to add moreutensils after the programmehas started, do notuse the tabletcollecting tray 12as a handlefor the upper basket. The tablet couldalready be there and you will touchthe partially dissolved tablet.

    18/40

    en Detergent

    18

    Notes

You will obtain optimum rinsingand drying results by using solodetergents and applying saltand rinse aid separately.

If programmes are short, tabletsmay not have full cleaning effectdue to different dissolving propertiesand there may even be undissolveddetergent residue. It isrecommended to use washingpowder for these programmes.

The Intensive programme (on somemodels) requires one tab only. Whenusing washing powder, you canapply some of this cleaning agent

to the inside of the appliances door.

Even if the rinse-aid and/or salt refillindicator is lit, the rinse programmewill run correctly with combineddetergents.

If using detergents in a water-solubleprotective cover: Take hold of thecover with dry hands only and putthe detergent into an absolutelydry detergent dispenser only, otherwise the detergent may stick.

If you switch from combineddetergents to solo detergents, ensure that the water softeningsystem and amount of rinse aid havebeen set to the correct value.

    Programme selection

You can select a suitable programmeaccording to the type of utensils anddegree of soiling.

    Information for test institutes

Test institutes receive the information forcomparability tests (e.g. according toEN60436).

These are the conditions for conductingthe tests, however these are not theresults or consumption values.

Perfect for a mixed load. You can washvery soiled pots and pans in the lowerbasket together with normally soiled

utensils in the upper basket. The spraypressure in the lower basket isintensified, the rinsing temperature isincreased slightly.

    Hygiene *Hygi ene

The temperature is increased during thecleaning process. This increases thehygiene status. This additional option is

ideal for cleaning e.g. chopping boardsand baby bottles.

    Hal f loadHalf load *

If you have only a few items to wash(e.g. glasses, cups, plates), you canswitch to half load. This will savewater, energy and time. It is

recommended to put a little lessdetergent in the detergent dispenserthan for a full load.
