Short term goals (2008):

AROME : Put the existing soil OI analysis within SURFEX (mid 2008) (useful for HIRLAM groups using AROME)

HIRLAM Syn scale : use soil OI analysis (with improvements retuning ISBA polynomes). Use of offline SURFEX ?

ALADIN : use CANARI soil OI analysis --> move to soil analysis in SURFEX when the coupling ALADIN/SURFEX is achieved (end 2008 parallel suite ?) to be evaluated by ALADIN partners (early 2008). Starting point for HARMONIE

ALADIN/HARMONIE : choose a common tool for surface analyses (2m, SST, LST ?, snow, sea ice) (CANARI, SPAN)

Coupling between surface and atmosphere assimilations use of 2m observations for atmospheric analysis - use of Ts as a sink variable for atmospheric analysis) - soil assimilation in 4DVAR outer-loops?

gain from wavelet transforms at 2m also in the soil (replacement of CANARI/SPAN ~2011)
