Props

• The props that we used in our

remake of the trailer were

candles and lighters and the

reason that we used these was

that these were present in the

official trailer and these props

allowed us to make the trailer as

believable as possible. We used

the candle lit and held it up to

the characters face as this way

it made it look more spooky and

it allowed the audience to think

about what could happen in

future scenes as something was

expected to happen.

Costume

• In our brief we didn’t specify what clothing each of our actors

should wear and the reason for this is that we wanted it to look

like an ordinary day and to make it look like nothing was going

to happen. The clothing that was used on the official trailer was

just normal everyday clothing which made it more realistic. The

colours that they wore were dark colours such as black and

grey and this symbolises the darkness of the characters. In one

part of the film we see the girl who has long dark hair wear a

white top and this makes her look physically drained which was

the look that they were going for. The three girls that we used

were wearing dark colours however they weren't black and grey

but one girl was. This wasn’t too much of a problem as we

followed the storyboards so this meant that the audience would

still know who was playing who.

Locations• We decided that we should shoot our trailer in a variety of scenes.

The reason for this was that in the trailer they cover a lot of different

sceneries to create a realistic feeling. We shot our trailer at the start

outside with a character walking towards the camera without looking

at it and the reason behind this was that in the official trailer this is

what we see and we wanted to mirror this action as this was part of

the brief. This location was easy enough for us to shoot in as there

were no distractions around us and it was in a car park which was

similar to the real location. We then shot at the bottom of a staircase

which doesn’t get used with the reasoning behind it being that it

looked spooky as it was in the dark and looked like it was abandoned

as there were parts of scaffolding in and around of it. We used this

space to mirror all of the other scenes that we had recorded as we

thought that it would fit the overall aim of the movie. The benefit of

using this location was that it was always available for us to use as

not many people would think of using it and it was beneficial to the

genre of what we had to work with.

Sounds

• The main bits of sound that were used in our trailer was dialogue, the reason for this was that there is no better way to tell the story other than the characters words themselves. Dialogue allowed the audience to relate to the characters. We then thought that to make the trailer more believable we should add in some sound effects which were added in during the stages of editing and these sound effects are regarded as non-diegetic. We used sound effects as none of the characters were willing to do these noises or simply because we didn’t have anytime to record them and this was the easiest way. The sound effects that were included were the ones that we thought were the most realistic and sounded like the most professional ones.
